Microsoft Windows 10 hardware event Oct 6th 10 am EST

Two whole SoCs? That sounds hard to believe..
Two Intel chips could be SoC+EDRAM or SoC + PCH.
The MCM shown in the video presentations of the Surface Pro 4 actually had 3 chips, which I think would be SoC+PCH+eDRAM.

it costs 2/3rds more than surface pro 4 . Does an NVidia gpu and keyboard hardware really add $ 600

Or the new input chip that he referred to. A "G" something.

So mashable is saying that SP4 is 50% lighter than SP3?
I didn't catch that. If so, that is really incredible and with a 30% increase in power too.
I guess battery is the biggest weight in the surface pro line up . If the new SOC uses less power they could put in smaller batteries for the same life spand which is like 8 -10 hours on the 3. Which will make a lighter and skinnier device. Also cooling could be less complicated with a lower power cpu

That would mean the Pro 4 is using a Core M Skylake, but that wouldn't be more powerful than a 15W Haswell.

Got it. I thought he was referring the MCM?? on the SP4.

He talked about the G5 was talking about the PixelSense in the screen .

The MCM is the intel core with edram I believe

I'd guess the base spec for the Surface Pro 4 should be with a Core i3 Skylake , 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD whereas the Surface Book may start with much higher specs like a Core i7, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD, for example.

Besides, the Surface Book appears to be a much more premium-y device than the Surface 4 Pro, so a straight BoM logic doesn't really apply here.

perhaps , I guess we will know tomorrow. The press is getting hands on currently

Can't wait for some impressions. Also, I feel that a lot of details may have been glossed over in the interest of time. All of the presenters seemed to be moving at mach speed as if trying to keep to a strict time line...it could be a reason for the awkwardness.

And to make it all work, Microsoft outfitted the Surface Pro 4 with a new, in-house co-processor known as the G5, which handles the display/stylus interaction. The button on the Surface Pen can still be used to quick-launch OneNote, and now Cortana as well. Best of all, though, the stylus comes in five colors and magnetically attaches to the side of the Surface Pro 4, so you might notice you've misplaced it that much sooner.

it made sense to improve the writing and doodling experience, too. Most importantly, the new "Surface Pen" has 1,024 degrees of pressure sensitivity, four times that of the Surface Pro 3, and an "all-year" battery life, which is something of a double-edged sword since you can't actually recharge it. The Surface Pen also has a tail eraser for manual undoing, and a selection of interchangeable tips for different tasks that change how the Pen feels and responds

Some info on the G5

I guess under that fan is the NVidia gpu

The GPU is under the heatpipe below that squared interface. The fan can't have anything underneath because it's probably a blower design which takes the air from below.
