EDD 312m.

microsoft_segment_revenue.JPG

2.1 million 360 sold/shipped. Total 33.5m

8.7 attach rate

Xbox revenue grown 50%

Solid profitability, to be expected with no real price cut.

2.1 360 shipped is also a solid number imo, though down from 2.3 a year ago.

I wonder what the operating income for ODST was... I forget the circumstances last year. Any thoughts on why the EDD is seeing nearly double the OI this time (despite revenues being similar)? R&D ? Zune?

hm... 50% growth in Xbox revenue, but EDD revenue... What else do they have besides Zune lumped in there?

I can only imagine they don't have as much R&D going. Wasn't there rumors that developement was halted on Zune devices for the time being, as well as halting R&D on the "Pink" mobile phones?

Also, less costs associated with internal Dev houses. So increased EDD while same revenue could also be partially due to many of the internal devs being let go. Less costs on the books.

And if revenue rose for Xbox division that means everything else in EDD dropped 50% in revenue. Zune now doing worse? As well as less income from internal software houses (less 1st party games on PC).

SB

Must be Zune?

"EDD revenue was flat with growth in Xbox 360 platform and PC game revenue offset by decreased revenue from the non-gaming portion of the business. Xbox 360 platform and PC game revenue increased by $96 million or 8% due mainly to increased revenue from Xbox Live and Xbox 360 video games, offset in part by decreased revenue per console resulting from price reductions during the past 12 months,"
$90M revenue from ODST? ;)

Btw:

For the quarter, overall gaming revenue was up nearly $100 million dollars, with Xbox Live revenues increasing 50 percent.

decent numbers, though Im betting 2010 Q3 (actual year) or 2011 Q1 financial year should show a good profit

It's too bad there's no way to know how much of that ~1.9 billion in revenue is due to the Xbox division.

"Xbox 360 platform and PC game revenue"~=1.08*($96M/0.08)~=$1296M
Xbox 360 platform revenue < $1296M

Not since they basically released all internal software Devs that had a hand in PC developement.

And thanks Rolf N, that's a pretty big chunk of EDD. Leaving 600M for Keyboards, Mice, Zunes, and whatever else...

And since PC and Xbox game revenue only increased 8%. That means the 50% growth of Xbox revenue came at the expense of PC software, which is about what you'd expect...

They hardly sell PC games anymore, don't they?

dunno how many consoles are out there in total around 60 milions??(ps3+x360) lates report on nfs:shift sales says 100 milions sold copies. So if even everyone who have console bought nfs:shift its still 40 milions copys on PC.

I can't believe you even quoted the 100m copies of Shift sold without questioning it yourself. That would make it the biggest selling game of all time by more than double.... and only in a couple of weeks ;)

Anyway, just to correct you, the announcement regarding N4S was that Need for Speed games (in total, all of them since the orignal and across all formats) have now sold in excess of 100m

:D
