No, it`s not missing...it`s borked, it`s available but they`ve somehow messed with the way they handle the horizontal frequency(this is my guess, based on putzing with powerstrip) and the driver can`t provide the combination of horizontal and vertical that my monitor requires for that resolution. Editing the ini was something I did with the RC7s when I first encountered the bug, but thanks anyway for your suggestion;)

You can edit the frequencies in there as well. Maybe they haven't put in the frequencies for that resolution that your monitor can handle.

Thanks for the info. I'm playing HD-DVD movies from Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive. Have you checked you CPU load at 720p? Does it drop when hardware acceleration is enabled?

Odd...640x480 worked with the 8.38s. But it`s an aknowledged bug now, the Catalyst team know of it(at least that`s what support said) so...about 5-6 driver releases later I`ll be able to use new drivers, YEEEEHAAAW!:D

You can just get a 2950 and be happy with the drivers then ;0

Umm, no. As an interesting twist, I was going to get a second HD2900XT for Crossfiring, but seeing driver rawness, lack of support for CF in Vista x64 and some price fluctuations over here that actually signal to me that waiting could result in a lower investment, I`ve postponed it a tad. So I`ll probably get a second 2900 before I get a 2950;).

Well I'd expect AMD/ATI to give the press a version which works with their stuff, no?

The unfortunate thing is that Win2k support has been removed from the Catalysts entirely. Win2k support was never really dropped... just not mentioned/updated @ ATI/AMD's website. Now it is finally the case unfortunately. I kinda wished they would have a nice INF (it didn't have to go through WHQL) just for being nice until XP support was done and over with...

    Oh well.
