Memory bandwidth decreased??

Memory bandwidth decreased?? (fixed)

Im kind of confused.

Firstly the problem is that sisandra is reporting a much lower memory bandwidth than what it reported ~1 year ago.

P4 3.0ghz northwood (this cpu has served me for almost ~5 years)
Asus p4p800 deluxe
2x512mb Samsung DDR400 with turbo mode on. (2-3-3-6)
Dual channel, and MAM is turned off (cant enable it for some reason as i get a OC failed msg during boot up)
PNY 6800GT/NV5 silencer
Corsair HX520W

A few years ago, i got somewhere around ~5200MB/s, and now i get 3800Mb/s??
Any ideas to such decrease?

edit - problem fixed.

The dual channel would be doing it if it's disabled. I'd guess relax some timings or figure out why it doesn't want to be enabled.

Probably not dual channel being disabled, 3.8GB/s > DDR400 single channel bandwidth (3.2GB/s).

Chipset drivers, BIOS, etc?

Quick guess, don't use Sandra, wonder.. same version of sandra ? the way the program calculates gb/sec might have changed

Are there any background tasks running that might be fiddling with memory?

From what I'v eread t doesn't take that much to screw up perfect access patterns to get much lower scores..

Peace.

Yes and no. I did use Sisandra 2005 version, but now i use sisandra lite XL. Both give me similiar results right now.

Dual channel is enabled, and shouldnt the lower timings (results of turbo mode) result in an increase in performance?

Or maybe its because i havent reformatted my computer since 3 years ago.. hmm

Perhaps a different test? Buffered vs unbuffered?

Could be, let me re check the benchmark.

edit - you are right. I was mistakenly comparing it with unbuffered to buffered. The score jumped right into ~4900ish which is good enough.

Thanks for the help guys, although i feel kind of a n00b not realizing what i did wrong. :D
