Close up shots from gameplay engine.

Lot of veteran sports gamers think it doesn't look that much more impressive than NFL2k on the Xbox.

EA seems to like reflective sheen on the jerseys a little too much.

No physics in evidence. Usual DBs hitting bigger RBs up high and not getting run over.

Yeah, it's hard to judge due to the quality. This is probably running on a modified current-gen engine. Either that, or, well the Madden series is not really known for it's graphics. So I'm not sure if EA could really deliver those "CGI" they showed.

it doesnt look TOO bad i guess. the stadiums do look impressive.

i wish the animations were better, i almost expected mcnabb to take off his helmet for a second, they sure fooled me. i dont think his fingers moved one bit, it was just his whole hands that moved. i liked how in nfl2k you could see the holes from the jerseys. :/

OK, there is now an "improved" BK video.

Not higher-res but EA apparently saying there are better camera angles.

The animations look to be the same as the first one and same as the one in the current-generation versions.

Some sports gamers are feeling let down by these and the screens, thinking that they don't look much better, if at all, than NFL2K5.

Or not having the impact that NFL 2K did on the DC, which they clearly felt showed superiority over the then current-gen sports games.

to be fair.... i was watching some folks play madden 06 xbox at best buy in those gamers corners with a widescreen hidef tv... it looked FANTASTIC. Waaay better than any internet i had seen of the game... i think this will look way better in person than its represented here.

Yeah we were discussing this earlier: http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23673&page=2

Anyhow the stadium and crowds look nice.

Not my vision for the franchise, but I could deal with it. I think the graphics are fine standing still... if it animated well. It really is the animation that makes me want to barf.

As for the graphics some detail cannot be seen at lower resolutions, others can. Also things like lighting, if they look poor at a low resolution they wont look much better at a higher resolution.

Animation and lighting will kill a title, graphically, even if the models, textures, and shaders are solid.

Yet at the end of the day this is all that matters: It looks better than any other football game and is the only football game on the market. And a lot of Madden fans are happy with how it is (not on the Madden boards necessarily, but what you don't know cannot hurt you!)
