zurich missunderstood the point of the post. The thread was there to detail that technically 9600 is capable of the same style of Bi/Trilinear filtering as the NV3x series, and this is alterable by the texture quality slider in ATI's control panel. The point of the post was not to state that ATI are enabling it by default, because as far as I'm aware they aren't.

ok so link me to your published 3dmark 2001 score please, I am at 13k now  and I have seen fsaa on a ti200, it sucks in both quality and speed, 1600x1200 with 4x fsaa didnt really look better than 1600x1200 raw also it was sharper without fsaa, seriously. dont get me wrong the ti4200 is still a very nice card and if a ti4200 cant play every game at 1600x1200 then neither will a 9600 pro

And my 9700 Pro is just pushing 14K. It proves very little.

Thats the point im trying to make. You cant even understand what the issue is about. *real* FSAA and the impact it makes. Of course 4x FSAA on the GF4 sucks and 1600x1200 looks better.

Thats why im trying to tell you, you are like a blind man trying to tell someone that they dont need to see the Clear blue sky anyway becuase its ugly.

Until you have a chance for a real gaming session at 1024x768 with Gamma corrected Jittered RGMS you simply are not equiped to make a real judgement call. which is why its hilarious that you are saying how much better 1600x1200 looks on your GF4 and how its obviously better than the 9600pro.. based on the piss poor FSAA implimintation on the card you think is so great.

Having said that.. Understand I *REALLY* liked my Ti 4200 when i had it for a while. It was great. But there is simply no comparrison between that and playing games now with 4x Gamma corrected Jittered RGMS and 8x AF.

Try a bit loosing the mem. down. You might get a few MHz on GPU side.
BTW why did you go for 'original' ATi when you could save around $50 with, say excellent Sapphire 9600Pro (without problem run 500/330 during my testing).
9600Pro is really great product! I can wait RV360! Wonder how it's going to be called? Radeon 9666?
