It's a design choice, pretty much every other HL1 post-mortem, HL2 preview and whatnot has covered this...

Yes I KNOW that! I was being ironic. :p Anyway, the design decision sucks. It was OK years ago where maybe it would have taken up too much disk space or whatever. Not anymore. Also, I want to see a body when I look down, I don't want to be represented by a floating gun (or a floating item that I've picked up, jesus... That looks stupid!)

Be careful - you're turning into the HL2 bashing version of T2K.

See? That's the part where you went wrong (at least according to Valve). Had you bought the game completely via online transfer none of the above unpleasantness would have happend.

Well, you're not alone with that. It will all be sorted out in time but that doesn't help right now. I'm one of the few who didn't like HL1 so i don't really care about the successor, but i know how you feel.

Its how the product is . You knew about half life 2s product rules before you bought it . And it says so on the box. I don't see why your upset about this. Its not like you bought the thing and then when you went to return it the store said. Oh we felt we shouldn't take these back so now we aren't going to take it back. Its on the packaging and the clerk told you. You could have stoped the purchase at any time .

well thats great. I perfer that big brother doesn't hold my wee wee when I go to the bathroom. There are some things I"m capable of doing myself .

Like I said you didn't have to buy the product. It says on the packaging that you must return it to the publisher not the retail store.

You could have covered your ass by not buying it. Or waiting for a demo to make sure the demo works with your system. No one said you had to go buy it the first day it came out .

Of course. As long as you save the code u can download it to your pc over and over again.

What if your roof blows off your house and the sun shines directly on your half life 2 dvd and burns a hole through it ?

As for your moving example u can buy the game in a store. You just have to make due with the return policiy . If you don't like it as I said you have 2 other options. Steam or not to buy it .

I still don't own it haha

No you don't! No one can understand what i'm going through! The pain, the suffering, the endless crying, the stiff neck, the hyper sensitive skin, the messed up hair.
    No one!

So you don't think having a mute main character that people talk sentence after sentence to without replying with even a word in response doesn't suck? He can shoot hordes of both monsters and people, but he can't friggin TALK?! What kind of scientist IS HE?!

HAH. Fat chance, I'm not that illogical. :p

You don't think it looks stupid when you pick something up and it just hangs there in the air perfectly still and perfectly level? It'd been like the FIRST thing I'd said "change it for fuck's sake!" if I'd been a designer on this title. They could have made it move and bob a little to show it has mass and inertia, that the player doesn't have hydraulic robot arms. Be glad I don't ask he'd actually stretch out arms to hold the object...

Floating perfectly still objects just look really BAD is what I'm saying. It takes away a lot of the suspension of disbelief, if anything it adds more disbelief.

You can understand something and still not particular like it, y'know? I bought the game because I'm hoping it's worth the inconveniences I've had to suffer (I'm sure it will be). However, that doesn't mean I'm overjoyed about them, either. Just because you would say "Thank You, Sir" if Gabe punched you in the face doesn't mean that everyone thinks that Valve can do no wrong and that gamers have less rights than other customers. If anything I expect more of a company like Valve, not less.

It's not that he can't or doesn't talk, silly - you just don't hear it.

I still don't understand what inconveniences you had to suffer through.

Everything you've bitched about comes down to you being an uninformed buyer.

Friend of mine got it last night. He comes up to my room and is just kinda hanging out while I'm on the phone. I get off the phone. "What's up, man?"
"Wow, Half-Life 2 is like crack."

I run down two flights of stairs, through the lounge, jumping over a table in the process, into his room and start playing.

"Dude, you know I'm going to play this all night."
"Yeah, I know. It's cool. I wouldn't have told you otherwise."
    "Wheeeeeeeeee!"

He had a 9600 Pro. Ran at high details at 1280x960 pretty well most of the time. Played for 3.5 hours, got to Ravenholm. Boat gets ANNOYING by the end (last helicopter fight is kinda blegh), but it's pretty cool so far. Is it Der UberFPS? No. Is it really damn good? Yeah.

Once you start realizing there is no UberFPS nor will there ever be any that you start to appreciate it when the really damn good ones come along. 8)

Fun game, I'm very much enjoying it.
