ATi's catalyst team has been doing an outstanding job over the last year of completely turning around ATi's driver quality. I think if Terry says they're going to hit 12 releases a year then they're going to hit 12 releases a year, he really ain't your typical PR guy...he just like a regular human being!

(Granted, the engineering sample 9700 Pro he sent me makes me a bit insanely biased; but I really did like him/respect him a lot before then too. ;) )

And what splinter cell bug is this? You mean the one that affects gforce boards also? Yep, I can see how you can be upset with ATI about a bug that is in the game, which affects almost all videocards.

Exactly my thoughts when reading the interview.
What other good reason except a new chip generation could ATi have to completely change their driver panel layout?
But the fact that MuFu questions this idea somewhat lowers my optimism ;)

How many games are released every month? A dozen maybe? I see no problem with regular driver updates. Who wants to wait for 6 weeks for the driver fix when you only have to wait four.

I wanna say these problems happens with some Catalysts versions.
    Maybe some bugs fixed.
But you know Cat3.2 official released March 12 and Cat3.4 released May 15.That is more than two months.
Ok? I used Dell 3.3 unofficial ,because I have no chioce.
3.1/3.2/3.3, all have problems with the games I wanna play.
And Cat3.4 is not perfect.Cs Esc bug not was fixed well.
You must wait two/three seconds after esc.

I think longhorm might be later than that. However, its widely suggested that Longhorn will also herald DX10, so it'll be a sea change then (oh, the compatibility fun).
