Just as I was watching A Bitter Pill walkthrough this comes up. Hell yeah, Hawke's Bay with raytracing would be fucking AMAZING!

All the more reason to be building a new computer next year, which i'm working on.

Right. And since it's Intel we're talking about an actual 2023 availability seems a fair bet.

Considering the machine it's used in first is supposed to be deployed this year, I doubt it'll be 2023, 2022 maybe ;)

The more relevant part is "can anyone recognize the chips"?
Is that 8x HBM, 16x Compute Chip, 12x or 8x Rambo? That would leave 12 + 4 or 8 + 4 unrecognized in the middle and the two corner chips uncounted for. The corners could be for whatever bus they used to connect several chips?

Yeah, that's official. But hardly shaking things up in my book, thus, i was oviously referring to...

Which was the thing (that would not be) dictator reacted to and i quoted.

Err, they already announced parts of what they assumed would be ready for Aurora are delayed, and last delay for this chip was back into "late 2021 early 2022" so... I'm not betting it's actually getting set up this year.

So, the Xe-LP DG-1 will only work on very specific OEM machines

So it won't work with the upcoming Rocket Lake and doesn't work with Tiger Lake either? Why?

    That's a rethorical question really.

Mobile version works with Tiger Lake (and possibly Ice Lake?), desktop is Coffee Lake-refresh and Cascade Lake only. I think Intel has a stock of 80EU GPUs and decided to offer them to OEMs to make some low-end Celeron/Pentium-based PCs "8k ready" (AV1, DP1.4, HDMI 2.1).

Except that it's limited to 9th gen (Coffee Refresh) and 10th gen (Comet) Core, no Pentiums nor Celerons.
I'm guessing they have plenty of old Core stock to be used by OEMs and with these salvage chips they can get dirt cheap solution that allows some basic gaming* and newest media features, something Gen9.x iGPUs lack?

    * These should be faster than Tiger Lake Xe-iGPU or AMD integrated, since it's running at higher clocks and has dedicated memory, and those two are already fit for some gaming.

I believe the spokesman meant 9th gen and 10th gen, but not only Core (despite he mentioned Core). Core-only would make even less sense.
