Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection

The game is on back order just about everywhere around here as well (Germany). I think someone really underestimated its popularity.

Looking at the videos, I now see what everyone was complaining about at the time. For some reason, when the game came out, I didn't seem to recognize the framerate issues that SotC had. Possibly because they're consistently low instead of fluctuating wildly. The videos of the HD version seemed very smooth to me (I'm playing them in order and haven't finished Ico yet), and with DF's comparison videos, it's easy to see why. It just amazes me that I never really noticed how poorly the original game ran.

Just put it on PSN already ;)

Yeah, games like GT5, R3, MAG should be available and installable on HDD.
I play 5-10 minutes of Plants vs Zombies frequently because it's always there on the HDD.

Ico probably won't get replayed that much, but I'd love the sound track on my HDD or on Music Unlimited.

Aargh, I have never played these games and now after I have read all of your praise (especially, patsus), I have decided to buy it as soon I finish Dark Souls (meaning in 2-3 years :devilish: ).

Cheers...

You mean my post here ?

Dude, I haven't even started my sales pitch.

The game touched a soft spot for me man. I don't want to say too much coz my mood would tumble down to hell. ^_^

Except it'd get 50% more so still everyone would be waiting at the shops for stock. Very glad these games are getting a second innings and seemingly doing well.

I tried SotC HD a bit. Agro the horse is (still) a little temperamental. But I like the setting too. Haven't killed any Colossus yet.

I thought this too, then I read that Agro has it's own AI so you are rather 'guiding' rather than 'driving'. A good example is one of the 'zig-zag' bridges...all you do is hold X and Agro will automatically turn a stay 'safe' on the bridge.

If the price is right I totally agree. I would happily have bought all 3 versions day 1 - CE for collecting, SE for the reversable cover and the fact I like media and PSN for the faster loading & cut-down on noise/wear and tear.

I should use this as a chance to show off my collection...

Yap, stock out is a miscalculation on their part.

Besides allowing DD download and install, they should already introduce a special SSD + HDD h/w for PS3 and PCs. That way we can "cache" certain apps/games in the SSD portion to alleviate streaming issues. They can even allow us to use the existing HDD if they want.

Seems to me like they messed with Wanda's grip in the PS3 version of Shadow. Even a little bit of motion from a colossus causes him to flap around like a limp noodle now. It makes some of the colossus fights rather aggravating to be honest (and makes for some nigh impossible time attack challenges). Never had those issues in the PS2 version.

I haven't tried SotC HD yet. Will probably take a while. These games need ample time to let the feelings seep in. ;-)

:p

What are all those? I mean, are they art books or postcards or what are they ?

They are my collectors editions :)

So what you have there is the UK Ico and SotC collectos' editions, both come with 4 postcards and in a fantastic card case with some lovely art-work. On the left is the Japanese PS3 limited edition, the games come on seperate disks with (again) great art-work insode the case as well as on the disk. That edition also comes with a pinky coloured box and art-book (best way to describe it)...there's some good pics of the JP LE box set here:

I believe this is the difference between US & PAL but I may be mistaken...

Ico And Shadow of the Colossus HD Versions Travel To PlayStation Network
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/01/1...us-hd-versions-travel-to-playstation-network/

... this week, you’ll be able to buy the HD versions of both games separately on the PlayStation Network in North America.

Additionally, Crysis 2 is being released as a download game over PlayStation Network this week as well, along with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent.

Played a bit of both the last few days. ICO feels like it has aged quite a bit, but Shadow of the Colossus still feel pretty fresh and beautiful.
