I recently bought sony panasonic Home theatre, In the beginning i was wondering how to connect to all these wires, somehow i made but i have still some problems with the sound and have more doubts i saw a socket called component in the back side of dvd player and also usb kind of port , i dont know what it is and what for it has been used, actually im connecting my Hometheatre for my dvd player. I use tv tuner card to view in my big 21' computer monitor. Now my question is what is that component socket which can be found behind a dvd player. I have red, white, yellow, green and blue collective wires, which color of wire should i insert into the component socket in dvd player or shall i leave it blank.

Component VIDEO is pretty much the best ANALOG connection you can get. How is your DVD player sending Video signals now?

The Red & White RCA plugs are for stereo audio (L & R).

The USB looking one, does it have a little plastic door that springs close automatically? If so, that's TOSLINK which is used for digital audio.
