Yah I switched to it from Azureus like 6 months ago and never looked back. Same functionality but just a TON faster to load and far lower resource usage. The whole prog is well under a meg. The author says even a slow K6 would run it well.

BTW, I'm finding that CCC loads quite quickly immediately after boot. I think it sort of degrades the longer Windows is running, but this isn't guaranteed. I really dislike how it makes the antivirus and hard drive grind on boot up though. If I remove it, which I'm probably going to do tonight, and just go with ATT boot is a lot faster and AV is happier as well. I get the feeling CCC works with tons of individual files to do its thing. Probably part of that 62 MB it uses on the HDD.

The big deal is that ATI doesn't give a flying fuck anymore about customer satisfaction when it comes to the interface between their drivers and their users.
Some of us find that strange. I personally don't. I like to believe that Microsoft must be very, very pleased that ATI single-handedly made the .NET framework a relevant piece of software for consumers.
The big deal is that I don't like that kind of prioritization of interests. If I buy a product, the product ought to please me, first and foremost, and not a "strategic partner" of its maker.
It's totally rediculous that the CCC still can and still needs to improve after all the time it had to mature. And it isn't just somebody's broken system, just read the release notes and count the issues.

Software that takes this long to get somewhere (and it still isn't there actually) is usually called "abandoned", "irrelevant", "deprecated" or just "dead". If the CCC weren't tied in to ATI hardware as the official thingy, exactly that would have been its destiny.

Ie imagine a world where ATI came up with ATT and bundles it with the drivers, while OTOH Ray Adams has created and maintains the CCC. What do you think would (have) happen(ed)? Yep. Thought so.

Just download the new driver package each month (without CCC, just the driver) and keep the existing control panel you have. No need to download CP again and again, it's not like anyone's still developing it :p

Yep, when people disagree with you it must be because they're whiners, and certainly nothing to do with the fact that, as you admit, you almost never open the thing.

Will ATi Tool ever work for TV-out and the VIVO functions of the cards?
I really would like to not have to use ATi's crappy CCC just so I can have TV-out working...

And then you wake up and remember that thats not your finger but your ****, and you don't have anything better to do today anyways. Or maybe it's just a control panel and not worth being an "arse" over. If you don't like it, install the classic cp, or use another vendor. And 30MB is ~1.4% of 2GB, and what the hell else do you have running. With antivirus, winamp agent, windows blinds, all microsoft background crap, CCC, creative app, etc, I'm only eating 260MB, and that's without tweaking services, and that is, OMG ~13% of your physical ram address. You could cut it down to less than 150 with all shit included. WTF are you complaining about. Here, I have a solution, why don't you go write your own control panel for ATI's drivers, and then get back to us with it. Like ATI Tray Tools. Contribute something to the discussion at least. Instead of making inflammatory responses with fingers and ass holes.

well i could look at my taskmanager for hours and see the usage... WHOO look CLI s tehbig!!111. I could look at my Commit charge... WOW im at 585mb... OMG... what will i doo? But it is a matter of taste i think theres not enough with CCC it needs more layers. If you want a leaner UI and more features go with Rays tools, i do, I also like the GUI CCC.. it would even be better with more options to mod it. Heck i wish the CCC was a side bar in Firefox. I didnt mean to push anybuttons ( well not to much) This thread is not realy anything to take much of a "stand" in. Its realy just very funny to hate a gui... But then this thread maybe was a general forum topic...

Ah yes, because going from a product which loads in a second to one which loads in several seconds, is something we should all be happy about.

    You sir, are an idiot.

I heart the thread I've created!

Just use ATI Tray Tools. I am. Too bad I can't rotate monitor #2, but Ray says that's comin'.
