The # sign makes the line invisible. the line added below replaces the commented out line.

Small performance increase running demo1 and I can't see anything wrong with the IQ of course I'm not comparing screenshots.

    Original FPS 45.9

    Humus FPS 47.6

I guess that the server must have the same file with mod.

Btw, these mods definitively won't works with GeForce cards.

With the MAT_SAD PK4 file (wtf!?), the gamma is no longer dark and there's no more artefacts / shiny textures? Please answer.

I just ran through the timedemo twice and watched for anything unusual but noticed nothing. Gamma looked the same, no extra bright edges or shimmering. I have yet to play the game and get a feel for any changes.

Sorry I didn't make it clear. What I meant to say was that Humus did indicate in his post above which code he replaced but he didn't explain exactly what/why he did for those that don't care for reading all 13 pages and just want the low-down.

Great, now can people post what kinda FPS increase they've earned with this MAT_SAD PK4 file one?!?!?! We want Some screenshots comparing it to the non-modded PK4 file aswell.

I just extracted the file to the desktop, chose Wordpad to open the file, and then changed the code and added the file back into the pak, winrar froze up on me but the changes stuck.

Could the varying speed increases be contributed to cpu limitations or other limitations such as memory bandwidth of the computer being used? So it appears in non CPU/mem limited cases (like high AF, AA) this way of doing the shader gives about 16-20% increase. Sounds good, I will try it out as soon as I get my third machine built with my Radeon 9700Pro. Good job HUMUS :).

Thanks Humus for all your hard work.

Call me sick but I have had more fun with this thread and tweaking Doom3 than playing the game. Unfortunately I can't try the new tweak till tomorrow.

The "glprogs" directory should go directly under "base".
