im just looking at PS4 price RRP
399 EUR
399 USD
639 SGD
6,999,000 IDR

but amazon slash it to 387 EUR, about 3% drop.
while indonesia reseller selling them for 5,200,000 IDR, about 35% drop.

how can indonesia reseller selling that much cheaper? O_O
usually how much reseller got their cut for selling consoles?

historically, on PS3, Indonesian+tax price always the same as US price without tax. Then since PS4, Sony sell it to indonesia with RRP equivalent to EUR price with tax. But the reseller selling for much cheaper.

and the even weirder thing, Sony release PS4 in indonesia in very unbalance time (the exchange rate keep fluctuating like mad).

It'll have a higher list-price markup. RRP is ~ $600. 35% discount is $444, in line with everyone else.

We've no way of telling. List price doesn't necessarily bare any relation to cost to retailers. Only thing we can be confident of is that if there's a substantial discount, especially for a popular item, it'll have significant margins.

Likelihood is the mark-up is high either to account for currency fluctuations or to give the retailers 'room to manoeuvre' as they call it.

Could be reason to increase RRP as the cost to import wobbles all around the place.

actually the RRP in IDR is almost the same as EUR when PS4 released in indonesia early this year (using that exchange rate).

with the discount, indonesia price now around 333 EUR. or about 15% discount compared to EU price.

No telling internationally. Here in USA it's $10-$20 for a $400 console. So, 2.5-5%?

thats very small margin... so when they sell console discounted for blackfriday or something, they sell it at loss? O_O
