Seems like they have increased their knowledge, since this is how they used to view the world:

Some of the things are pretty funny. I'm surprised that Belgium is known for its chocolate but not for the beer. Spain will some day join the 21st century and ban bullfights. Maybe then I will consider setting foot on it again.

And about Portugal, no mention of the Barcelos rooster?

I was surprised they had the Czeck republic but not slovakia. Though I guess there are too many countries to list. I thought it was pretty funny though.

So all in all, Americans have a pretty accurate view of Europe, I'd say. :)

I note with some amusement the creator of that rather disparaging (towards Americans, I mean) image forgot entirely about the continent of Africa...

Or perhaps that was intentional? I really can't tell!

I heard this yesterday on the news

    http://chicagopressrelease.com/science-and-health/mercury-high-in-japan’s-dolphin-hunting-town
It concerns a town in japan where they eat whale/dolphin meat + who's citizens have 4x the the amount of mercury in their bodies than the average japanese, anyways apparently still safe.
but whats funny is + I had to laugh, on hearing the good news the towns ppl killed a dolphin and ate it

F**k Slovakia, you can lump it up with Czeck like it actually was just a while ago and you have to know where to look to spot it from the map, but what about Finland?!?! Bastards, go ahead and ignore us, you don't even know what you're missing.

Of course it was intentional, you naive yellow turnip, just like the creators of that other map omitted Finland even though it shines like a sore spot right up there between Sweden and Russia. It is so telling that you, one of our former oppressors, pay more attention to a blob such as Africa missing from someone's doodlings rather than notice this outrageous omission of your neighbour.

Well, you have the bar with the longest name in the world, but what else does finland have to offer to the world? You don't even have any decent cuisine, Silvio Berlusconi said so.

    ;)

The comparison was b/c I was surprised they listed the Czeck republic instead of a larger country like Finland. Though I don't have much in the way of notions about Finland myself. When I think of Finland I think of long dark winters, a blue cross on the flag, hunting, and some snowboarders. That is about it. Feel free to enlighten us :)

That is the opposite, but not as well done. Still humorous though.

Endless supply of rally drivers, mobile phones that americans don't want to buy but which sell like hotcakes in 3rd world countries, sauna, and a defence force to keep russians from marching to Skåne.

As it seems that some spoiled foreigners no longer voluntarily swallow the reindeer that we shove down their throats on every visit, we have had to come up with new schemes for converting them, such as Pizza Berlusconi.
