How is it possible.. Sounds like a big joke. They were ready to release the game the 30 sept. '03 .. what they told us many times .. and a thief took the code source on the Valve's network. And the game will be pushed back 15 months later and more just for that ?! I'm sure what the guy downloaded on the network was exactly how the game was .. after 6 years 1/2 .. more than 7 years now. Not so impressive. And what the game is suppose to do so special btw .. excepted maybe the facial expressions.

The source code theft wasn't the only reason for the delay, it was certainly a contributing factor. They said themselves that they underestimated the work that was to be done on the game and were not in any position to release it by Sept 30th.

You could say the same thing about pretty much any upcoming FPS, what's so special about them?

Well I think even if the game is ready in August they should wait until late October to ship if Doom is shipped in August.

I would like at least 6-8 weeks to play Doom before I worry about HL2. I wouldn't want to rush through either, just to get to the next. Or neglect one for the other.

Plus it means more sales for both companies for the people who can't afford to buy 2 games in the same month.

And it might, bring about cheaper cards by then for HL2.

Following the usual double the recommended spec rule, we arrive at:

    This Is Livin':
    4.8GHz CPU
    1GB RAM

    ;)

Eurogamer says CS:Source may be available in beta form in August: sweet.

*In theory* i should be able to play the game at full details then.... We'll see... If even FarCry is rather choppy at complete full details, i really doubt HL2 will be smooth at full quality and AF. Even without AA.

Not sure if HL2 would be any more demanding than FarCry is.

I think Half-Life2 would be less system demanding than FarCry is.

And needless to say, my 5900U will be crying when all those shaders will try to get through...

When it comes to PCs i'm usually skeptical. It will be "fine". But it could be better. Always can.
In the end, i'll have to keep settings like those of Farcry at the moment (well, the equivalent), eveything on Very High apart from shadows. 4x AA and 4x AF maximum, or no AA at all if i'm feeling a bit too sensitive to framerates. Regardless, nothing much really changes when turning AA off, the game is still slow as hell...
Why can't every game be as beautiful as Painkiller and run the way it does?!

Yeah SURE! I'll take out my credit card right NOW and spend an unidentified amount of money for something that will last a year if i'm lucky! YEAH!...

Nope, not gonna happen. I'll change my card when i change the whole system. Or when newer cards are cheap enough. And that's not gonna happen anytime soon.
