HD 6990 Previews/Reviews

Classic CCC bug. AMD Optimized applies the custom tessellation factor cap if one had been defined and if there is no profile which is not obvious as the customize bar is then greyed out.

AMD will probably not like that but for a couple of releases, driver (or just CCC ?) robustness is going way down. Reviewers should know they can't trust the CCC.

 

I think Antillies is not as good as hyped....i will take a HD 6950 flashed to 6970 CFX ftw.. AMD is not going to retain the title of the fastest single pcb gpu this round....

 

Based on clocks from sweclockers, 6990 shouldn't have troubles against GTX 590 (core clocks 22% lower than 580, memclocks 16% lower than 580, gtx580 sli 5-15% faster than stock 6990 depending on review)

 

Maybe they got a „FUSUM”? *SCNR*

Anyways, the CCC bug with the tessellation control is anything but new. It was the same thing aleady in the first preview driver to feature the control in the first place.

So, that's really an annoying glitch, that seems to be hard to get rid of.

But then, as was pointed out to me, AMD user are not too dumb to use it correctly.

 

Well, 2x 69(7)0 in CFX is certainly faster if you don't OC the 6990.

At least XFX will offer full warranty even when OC-mode is used

I wish EVGA made ATI cards. Those guys have proven themselves to be helpful for my brother and his 8800GT experience.
