    I think you might stop, think about what you just said and perhaps think about it again!

    I haven't try going any further with ATI HD4850 overclocking - but it seems with 750/1230 it runs very stable :D

    "I stopped going further" :wink:

    EDIT: Default Official 3dmark06 test 1280x1024 resolution

    Had the 4850 since months but havent installed it yet. The reason is the astronomical power consumption when idle or not under heavy load and i leave the PC on for hours. I though they would fix this in a driver update but it didn't happen.

    Anyway, is there a way i could use it as a secondary card. So i could just unplug it and use it when is necessary?

    I was thinking using a converter to do this to prevent damaging the card pins.

    @SMW:
    Saw 2 of those reviews some time ago. Well like most things in life, is all relative, but at idle is still a lot. Consider that when the PC in on for a lot of hours, the electric bill shoots to the roof, the electricity around here is expensive (second higher in the world if im not mistaken).

    What i was thinking when i saw those comparisons is why they don't measure the consumption of the system without the cards (with on board chipset) an throw that figure there for comparison. Why they dont do this?

    Have you tried looking into your card's BIOS using RBE? I've got a 3850 which didn't had the same voltages for the 2D/idle state as for the 3D/loaded one. Changing the BIOS tables to drop the voltage when idel made a night & day difference.

    LOL check this insanity out! It must be deafening. Even those special Newegg reviewers were talking about the noise so I just knew there had to be some truth to it. I was pondering this card, but there's no way I'll buy something this noisy when I really would rather be noiseless like I've managed with the 8800GTX and 3850.

    I could still push further to 15k score in 3dmark06.

    I tested my 4850 @ 775MHz GPU and GDDR3 1241MHz memory. And Q6600 @ 400x8 = 3.2GHz CPU.

    But I'm keeping my eye on 4870 GDDR5 -1024MB version. I would probably get one if it drops below ~$180.00 US dollars. (Which probably 6 months down the road - Unless RV790 or something will replace it)
