R520 was different, wasn't it? I think it's neither R520 nor Xenos. I'd vote for some high-end DX9 GPU or some modern low-end GPU. The blocks are quite big compared to the entire GPU

Any clue as for year or manufacturer? Maybe process node?

EDIT: if this mask fills full reticle then die size of this chip looks to be around a quarter. So that's around 125mm2-190mm2.

Wikipedia says 2005 is the year of SGX530 and SGX520, but those aren't really obscure (except maybe for 520 which wasn't used often afaik).
