I think this warrants a new thread for gameplay discussion etc. Anyway heading to PC and PS3 March 30 for some more destruction, car hijacking and crusing down the the streets.

I wonder if they have upgraded the engine for the PC versions. I want FSAA.

Isn't there a mod that adds MSAA and a bunch of other cool stuff?

    2 years late.........****ing MS exclusivity.......

I've yet to finish GTA4 on PC yet, though I'm sure I'm close. I probably will not be shelling out to get these two episodes.

    Delayed?

Hmm, 2 years? More like a ~1 year for one DLC and ~6 months for the other.

I would SWEAR there was AA in the opening title sequence of "The Lost" after just playing it now, but the game doesn't look like the engine is any different playing it.

I dunno, it seems a bit less shimmery...although I could be imagining. GTA 4 updated when I hooked up to Steam today to buy this btw.

Any word if the Shadow improvements are ISV specific (cough, cough UltraShadow or PCF...)???

Nope, I can confirm the new shadow system is not ISV specific and the IQ is stunning... really, really stunning. No more hazy lazy shadows. Fully filtered smooth shadows on High, but V.High brings my 4870x2 to its knees!

Nebula is gonna #### his pants when he sees it! :)

I was more or less thinking of MS's deal in general to have Episode timed exclusivity, though it really hasn't been as long since the Episodes were released. Feels like forever ago to me though lol.

As for the engine improvements/optimizations, are they going to be available with the supposed new GTA4 patch, or will I require the new Ep, and even with the Ep, is the base game patched at all?

No, you just need the patch to get the engine improvements. I have to say the shadows do look very nice; though I did see a video someone posted over at rage3d where the tree shadows flickered quite badly. Was apparently due to using Crossfire.

Yes, MS needs to bribe devs to support their system cause it's crap.

Somewhat off-topic but, I just picked up GTA4 for the pc and Im getting a performance lower than what I want. Im running 2x280gtx, 4 gig ram, and q6600@3.2. Im looking for tweaks outside of degrading my graphical settings. So far I have noticed that the -minspecaudio tweak has had the most performance increase and was wondering if anyone else has had any positive results with others.

Anyways I am completely amazed at how beautiful this game looks on the pc with higher resolution and advanced shadows.

I hated the phone call missions. also some missions (more than vice city) were incredibly difficult IMO. I think my love affair with GTA is over.
