Well here in the UK avaliablity for the X800 XT (AGP) seems to be good.

I got my AGP X800 XT in December (early Christmas present from my boyfriend). I received the card within three days of placing the order.

IQ wise I didn't notice any difference between my Sapphire 9800 Pro (BIOS said 'Built by ATI') and my Connect3D X800 XT (BIOS also says 'Built by ATI').

Anyway I love the card. But I've been stuck at 1024x768 (due to a cheap 17" CRT). But this week my new Hyundai ImageQuest Q995 19'' 'Perfectly Flat' CRT Monitor should arive and at last I can see some Hi-res gaming.

Oh and WaltC congrats on the new machine (it looks like it's very quick).

No, PCI-E. I also have a Asus SLI board on the way as well. With some Mushkin LvL2 3500.. Going to be fast, I hope.

Forgot to mention I also got a retail boxed copy of HL2, and BF:V with the card. I already have both.. though, so Im not too excited about it. Just came across a great deal. Right place at the right time. :)

I was just joking, of course...;) It will be a cold day in Hades before I ever get the lowest price on anything, I'm sure, but I think we all enjoy our cards and that's what counts...;)

I am happy b/c my last two cards were both great deals, the first was a saphire 9800 that was flashable to 9800pro, the second the x800 VIVO. To be honest it has spoiled me. See I figured paying $415+shipping for the x800 PE (equivalent) was reasonable, however when I go to buy a r520/r600/nv50 based card I will suddenly not be able to choke down the ridiculous high prices for the top end anymore :p

I got mine from Monarch. The V2000 was only $230, and like $16 for 2 day shipping.

WaltC, that setup is boss, but that case is ace! :D Even though I can't see myself dropping $200+ on a case, I can see why you did. What are your idle/load temps on that? If I didn't like my case so much right now, I'd revisit Lian Li.

About the difference in perceived IQ between 9800 and X800, I can't say that I was able to really tell when I first got my x800 in September '04. Things probably looked better to me because I was maxxing out everything I could not on the 9800XT I had before it. I think I went up at least one resolution (11x8 -> 12x9/10) and up one notch in AA and AF and still had improved FPS performance over the 9800XT across the board - even more so now with an A64 instead of XP 3200. I'm kinda with The Baron on this one I guess. Anyway, as long as we're (digi, fallguy, you, me, sxotty and mrs) all enjoying our cards, who cares? ;)

Thanks! Yes, the case was really much better than I thought it would be from having used a Lian-Li PC62-USB extended for the past couple of years (which was my fav prior to setting up the V1200.) For a mid-tower, the room and quality of the 1.2k beats everything else I've seen to date. I got rid of the traditional internal floppy and hooked up an external 2x USB HD floppy in its place--which is so quiet by comparison at all times that I find myself checking to see if it's connected--and that created a fifth full-size internal 5.25" bay in the process.

Idle cpu temps seem to range around 38C-42C, depending on ambient room temps, of course, and that's without C'nQ enabled and with the stock AMD cooler employed. Load temps seem to range about 5-8 degrees warmer depending on the load.

Also, in case of anyone's latent interest, I recently tested out my RAID 0 performance using HD Tach 3.0.1.0 and got an average read of ~101mbs/sec in the 32mb test and ~103mbs/sec average read in the 8mb test--which is almost exactly 2x the average read performance of the WD 120 0JB, or one of the Maxtors individually on normal IDE. I was asked earlier as to whether or not I thought the pci bus was being saturated by the RAID performance and so I'd have to say yes, at this stage.
