Hey peoples,

Ive just got a WD raptor as part of my upgrade, for those with the same HDD, what is the reccomended sector size when formatting? Ill be using the raptor for the OS, programs and games only.

Cheers.

default (cluster size) of 4KB is the best. going bigger is bad for compatibility with lots of things.

I got the 74GB model, i thought that would be plenty for what i do. Ill have a secondary large capacity 7200rpm HDD for everything else. I was thinking of setting it a 4KB and based on your advice, ill stick to the plan.

As far as I know (and google and newegg) there's no 250gb raptor. Do you have any references to it?

maximum pc...here's a western digital link (and it mentions on the home page a maximum pc article)....but i think the larger capacities aren't raptors after all.

Correct. The Raptors top out at 150 Gig. Anything larger is not in the Raptor product line. They're the 7200 RPM series.
