Google Earth now has Google Sky! What's really cool about this is that it puts those Hubble images, such as the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, into perspective.

I attended a talk by Michael Jones who (IIRC) heads up the Google Earth project and they stated that they had about 250 million GE users, although they admitted many would just zoom in on where they live.

I think this is just a sneaky attempt to boost the user base by getting the little green men to download

(Either that or they are trying to track where the "illegal aliens" have come from )

Seriously though, it sounds utterly fascinating. I'm downloading the installer now.

http://www.stellarium.org/ is ace too... smoother (neat night day cicle..) and just "cleaner"so far. GE has more Hires pics (hubble..) and info though..
