So, I created a console data thread on tracking general information (i.e., unit sales, software sales, cost, etc.) of present and past systems. This will help members (if pinned) keep track of general console information without the need for searching for such information. The information presented can be updated in the code field by helping moderators… while the information snapshot will be updated when possible by me. Of course, any additional information by members will be added to the data fields (lots of help needed in the BoM and Software Sold LTD categories), as well as correcting any inaccurate information. Any new categories members wish to see, please feel free on posting them.

FYI: All pricing and inflation data is based on the original U.S. retail launch cost. Nothing reflective of shrinks, smaller models and/or console deals. This would include BoM data as well.

Not really, the explicit goal of those machines was to be profitable on the hardware alone in a way they didn't expect the original launch hardware to be.

I think I was more surprised by X's BoM cost than anything else. Pretty moderate for such a nice piece of hardware.
