Well, there is some kind of multi-core support at least, because 3DMark Vantage is much faster with a quadcore than with a dualcore.
Aside from that... I wonder why there's x87 code.
I'm quite sure it was SSE-optimized back when it was still NovodeX. I should check if I still have the old NovodeX SDK and runtimes.
And if it is indeed SSE-optimized, it'd be interesting to see if the newer versions are actually slower or not.

Yeah I always try to remove the PhysX crap everytime I'm done with a game that uses it. Unfortunately that then tends to break the one or two games I might still be playing that want to have it on.

So now I'm relegated to, play 1 game that uses PhysX. Try to finish it. Uninstall game. Make sure PhysX is uninstalled. Then repeat process if I get another PhysX enabled game.

Probably just me being paranoid or whatever, but it annoys the ever living daylights out of me. I'm not sure why they couldn't have just done something similar to Havok and just have support in games.

    Regards,
    SB

Not all 8-series-cards are supported. I was mistaken about that in the first place too. Seems like there's only support for GPU-PhysX with GT200, G92 and maybe (not verified, mind you!) G94.

Plus, you'd need the right driver (AFAIK 177.3x and up) for the job.

Probably because Ageia started using separate hardware from the CPU. AFAIK almost nothing can work under Windows and associated APIs without a proper driver. Maybe a game directory dll would have sufficed, if they'd limited themselves to CPU-support. :)

Yes, 8-series cards are not supported *yet*.
Officially the 8800GT/GTS aren't supported yet either, but since they use the same G92 GPU, these '8-series' cards do work.
However, nVidia does mention in the FAQ that they plan on supporting all Cuda devices, so all 8-series cards (and IGPs?) should have support eventually.
As far as I know, there's no fundamental difference between G80, G92 and GT200 as far as Cuda/processing logic are involved, so they should just be able to use the codebase they have now.

Nvidia has enabled PhysX on the G92 variants. But has not QA'd all the G92 cards. Nvidia wont officially support something until it passes there QA. The G80 series will eventually get that support.

You just need to download the newest PhysX software 8.07.18 and Forceware beta 177.79.

I get PhysX stuff with my 8600GT in GRAW2 Demo, but nothing in GRAW1 (1.35).

Yea, I just tried with that driver and the latest PhysX software, on an 8800GTS320 (Vista x64).
I can now enable GeForce PhysX in the control panel, and it seems to work in 3DMark Vantage, because I get a lot more objects than before, and the framerate is higher aswell. Overall score also went up by about 1100 points, and the only test that really had different results was the CPU test 2 (went from ~7 ops to ~88 ops).
So G80 support is here at last, it seems :)

Well, they did advertise with 'Quantum Physics' since the introduction of the 8800GTX, so it's more like the functionality they promised, but we never got :)

TR has a sneak peak of the upcoming 177.79 release here. By an extreme coincidence it's scheduled availability is August 12

Impressive results... Seems like PPUs are officially dead now.
Even my 8800GTS320 should do quite well, looking at how even the slower cards in that test perform. Mine would be about 10-20% slower than the 8800GTX on average, I guess.

I've done a bunch of testing of my own with these drivers and a number of PhysX supporting applications over at Elite Bastards.
