Looks like Gears of War is very likely to get a movie before Halo does. While producers had taken out options for a Halo movie in the past none had actually signed a contract to make a movie. If this article is correct, Universal Studios appears to have signed a contract to make a Gears of Wars movie.
It's a good setting for a summer blockbuster type of movie. I'm still surprised nothing ever came of various party's interest in making a Halo movie.
