Master of Orion 2 - good game, but I got it late and never got into it
    Baldur's Gate 2 - almost there... (I don't like the combat, and there's a lot of it)
Dungeon Keeper 2 - tends to hang on me in Win98, menus don't draw properly in Win2K, I think I'll try again with my new CPU/MB/RAM
Black & White - gave up after having it lock up several times in the same area, maybe I'll try again some time
MDK 2 - got stuck on a puzzle, game isn't that great anyway
Zelda OoT - couldn't hit the shadow boss, frustrated, didn't feel like trying again
Metal Gear Solid (GameCube) - what's the fuss about this game? nice cinematics, some good stealth gameplay, rest is boring

And then there are some games I've only barely tried, I neither can or want to list all of them.

When I was younger I nearly always finished my games, usually several times. Now I'm more picky, quite jaded really.

Ultima IX - Didn't fell like it worth my time. This game was a huge disappointment to me.
Grandia 2 - Boring story/characters way too verbose NPCs, and headache inducing camera in the maps. It has nothing, except the fight system, on common with the fantastic first Opus (One of the best Saturn games. And the Saturn had tons of excellent games.)
Devastation - The question will not be why I didn't finished it, but why did I bought t in the first place...
Heroes of Might and Magic IV - I formatted my HDD and then forgot to reinstall it.
    Morrowind - Heh heh!

    And probably tons of others.
It's a 1998 game, and back then it was the shiznit.
The GC remake is not that great due to the addition of the first person shooting view, which make the game way too easy.

wow... too many choices. i haven't finished a LOT of games. honestly, they're really quite awful... well that's only half the story. another part is i have a (small) life outside of games ;), and good games, really really good games, demand a LOT of time to properly enjoy. I STILL play simcity 3000 and Civ3.

Let's see... no point in discussing all the garbage i'll never finish, but one game i really WISH i'd finished was GTA III. i never bought it; wound up playing it at my friend's an awful lot and loved it of course, but then i stopped going over everyday for a bit, and we transitioned back to our usual, favorite LAN games, and I never got back into GTA III. I also wish I'd had more time to play OTOGI. It looked really, really cool when my friend rented it (Xbox).

Now for some reactions to previous posters...Vice City did have a couple frustrating missions but i manged to get them done and felt the better for it. Dungeon Siege 2 did get boring towards the end, but was overall surprisingly fun. I downloaded the isoz for this because i HATE this genre with a passion, but was tempted by a forum post. Good thing i did; i was impressed and finished it as fast as i could -- not an easy feat; i think i put like 70 hours or so into it. What didn't impress me were some glaring game balance issues, and how the first boss was SO GREAT and got me SO pumped for the rest of the game and from there it was pretty much downhill. I never powerlevelled or otherwise dawdled, yet the game was far too easy once i got a good party going (after about lvl 13 or so, out of ~36 levels). I tried to drag up characters I'd left behind, to make it more interesting, but the game is lame and refuses to give them experience if you let them sit too long. Bad design choice, IMO. However, it was worth the cash I had to fork over to amazon at the end. Almost makes me look forward to the next Blizzard game. Maybe in a year or so, I'll feel like dragging this one out to play on "Veteran", but I worry it will be too easy again...

Fakk2, I might just load it up and re-play it this afternoon as I've always sort of wondered what happened and thought it was a great game...but at the time my rig wasn't quite up to it.

    I think it's up to it now, at 1024x768 6xAAt3 16xAF and a solid 100fps.

Mebbe I will, could be fun. :)

Hmmm, now that you're asking, I don't even remember how far I got anymore. Looking up the safegames, they haven't been touched in two years, so I guess I'll have another look at it later this weekend. Maybe I did finish it, but just can't remember?

Anyways, I'm not into this whole fantasy mumbo-jumbo, using heros and special magic powers. I'm more the simple guy who loves his bloody "normal" Orc<->Human encounter.

I could never bring myself to get through Far Cry. The checkpoint saves really brought the game to a screeching halt when I had to replay the last 30 minutes after dying.

There are alot games I just fired up and then never touched them again, most of those were from Game-Compilations (I seem destined to buy any of these, even if I wont play most Games  ).

For some Games I really tried to play, but couldnt finish:
Doom 3 - just horrible game (and thats not meant in a good way), played it a while for the gfx
MGS 3 - what the heck did they do to the great Series ? Im just feeling lost playing that Game. Played till fight with "The End" and dont feel any interest any more (I know the old fart would die automatically after a few days)
FF 7 - played very far( crater on last CD), then had no chance against the monsters. Tried again from the start years later and stopped nearly at the same Point. Dont feel like running around, leveling up and finding rare weapons.
FF X - same thing as FF 7 - only this time im hanging at the last Bossfight. Again 2 tries leaving to the same end.

also FFX, mainly because i actually like doing something rarther than watching poorly acted cut-scenes for hours on end. (music is good though )

FF9, got to that crystal world sort of place twice, made the same mistake twice, that being on a crappy level and buying very few supplies. (that tail also put me off )

never actually completed morrowind, got a abit boring when u could kill everything in 1 hit. (good game though)

doom 3, u should all know why

Sin, kept on bombing at the same bit, so gave up on it.

aoe 1&2, empire earth 1&2, never really played single player missions - all about regicide and random map for me.

Halo, cant stand the crap performance on pc, and playing an fps on a
    gamepad is a joke.

banjo and kazooie, didnt have enough time having rented it out - will beat it 1 day as i actually have it now.

Pariah, LET ME SAVE WHEN I WANT! (thank god there was a way around it in farcry, thats why i have completed that 1,)

Knights Of Old Republic II - I loved it for ages and then suddenly, almost overnight, got bored of it. Weird.

    Half Life 2

I get nauseous after ~15 minutes. Didn't happen with Doom3 or the F.E.A.R demo...

Perhaps because it was very good for very long, but then progressivly started to turn to crap towards the end?

Anyway: Add me to the list of those who never finished Morrowind. Never finished the BGII expansion either, and will rarely finish a FPS.

Hey, am I the only person In The History Of The World to actually finish the main quest in Morrowind? Do I win a prize?

Only because it crashes my system every time I try to play it, sometimes after a hour or two, sometimes it takes only couple of minutes. The same thing happened with Max Payne 2 and Painkiller.
I have no idea why it's only with these games, as the three Unreal Tournaments, Doom 3, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, AvP2 and Halo never crash my system.

I always try to finish all my games, but i couldn't finish:

HL2 (too repetitive and boring and it feels like finishing it won't make my life any better since there isn't a story really)
    Doom3 (same thing)
    FarCry (same thing)
GTA3 (too long and some missions are impossibly frustrating)

Oh and FF7 - save file got corrupted (THANKS third party mem cards makers) just before the last fight with Sephiroth, all characters maxed out after some 80 hours playtime, i went ballistic and never even looked at the game ever again.

We already had a similar thread a while back, but what the heck:
    • Doom3:RoE - kinda enjoyed vanilla D3, but RoE bored me to death quickly
    • Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 - not really something you can "finish", but I never made it far past the Tutorial missions
    • UFO Aftermath - doesn't come anywhere near the gameplay brilliance of the originals
    • Morrowind - yes Diplo, I do believe you are the only person on the face of this planet to actually finish the main quest
    • GTA3 - same as london-boy, missions got way too annoying towards the end, finished VC and SA though
    • Deus Ex:IW - just not as good as it should have been
    • Ultima 9 - big Ultima fan and with all the official and fan patches its a good game, but I didn't finish it in 3 attempts, kinda like Morrowind
    • System Shock - abandoned the game twice in the last level, don't ask why 'cause I don't remember, its been too long! Finished SS2 though
    • All Infinity Engine games - great games almost without exception, BG is single handedly responsible for rescuing the dying RPG genre ... I never managed to complete any of the games or expansions though, even though I played and enjoyed most
    • Black&White - innovative gameplay concept ruined by mediocre execution
    • Spellforce - see B&W
