Hm. This game sounds like the zero-g missions of Heavy Gear 2. Somebody want to confirm that for me?

(there was that one summer many years ago where I did literally nothing but online HG2, so if that's the case, buyin this)

Judging by the way Killing Floor rocketed up the sales charts on its free weekend, its definitely a potentially great revenue driver if you've got the game to back it up! I wish you the best of luck, the game looks genuinely unique and very pretty!

There looked to be a lot of lights in from that video, is the lighting defered? Any plans for a single player follow-up if this one is successful?

Actually our engine is not deferred, but it can push quite a lot of lights anyway. If Shattered Horizon is successful, we are sure going to go for something new, perhaps in the same "space", but can't comment what/when/how. :)

    Cheers,

    Nick

Just finished preloading. Too bad for no benchmark mode.

I'll probably upload some 720p videos of this to Youtube once I get this running and gunning.

The game held my interest. It seemed to run pretty well too, which doesn't feel right for a Futuremark project.

I presume you don't have to play with the rawk music and all the noisy gun sounds?

The music isn't part of the game (gun sounds are though), I just happen to like Poets of the Fall :)

It's sort of related though, because you know... Captain :)

TBH I wasn't sure, because the official trailer was like that too. I'm a bit disappointed that the guns sounds are so prevalent. Sounds like you are on a battlefield instead of in a little pocket of air in a suit in a massive vacuum. One of the best bits of Dead Space was going into vacuum areas where you could hear nothing but your own breathing, footsteps and actions that were conducted directly though your suit.

It's more silent when you turn off the suit systems to go to "stealth mode" of sorts. Like when I do those backstabbing moves in the video, it's more eery like that. (maybe I should have given audio gain to that part of video so you could hear it better) But when you turn the suit systems on, you can hear everything.

I guess you could argue that the suit artificially creates all the weapons sounds and such to help the argonaut hear what's going on!

Yeah it's supposed to be "simulated" audio for guns etc. When you turn your suit off it's just breathing, thrusters and your heartbeat. Very cool :)

I have to say I'm very impressed with this game. Good job fm, I hope u get the $$ you need! what sort of performance are people seeing? I'm getting ~25 fps with max everything 2xAA 19x12. This is with a 4870 1GB and a C2D 3.0Ghz

I think I'll have to wait for a free weekend.

Graphics are "okay" (still hate that glossy hyper-reflective look on matte surfaces), but my major concern is disorientation and seemingly super fast death. After getting so used to Team Fortress 2, I wouldn't want to spend 20 to piss myself off just because everyone is shooting here or there :p

This doesn't take away from the game itself though, and seeing that people are enjoying it FMG did quite a decent job!

I'll definitely have to get it at some point. I'd run it on my lappy, but the so called minimum specs are really steep. The 9800M GS is a bit under the desktop version of the 9600GT (same GPU just in a mobile package). I'd try SH on my desktop, but I only have XP on it! :p Looks like I need to get Win7 and see how my Radeon 4670 does before I get one of the 5870s at some point.

I'd certainly like to see more depth to the gameplay though. In my mind I'm building turrets onto them rocks...
Hell I'd like to see mods with one player commanding the others in rts style and whatnot.

I was thinking in a similar fashion. The Counter Strike in space bit seems a bit simple (I'm sure it's addictive though!), and I can only hope to see some real strategy elements built into the game like upgrades, special armor and weapons systems, not to mention deployable defenses and objects. The potential for such things is HUGE. I'd love to see mechs, and or powered exoskeletons too haha. It would be awesome to live out our UC Era Gundam fantasies. Ooh and destructible environments are a must!

Is it just me or do I see the CPU and RAM requirements going out the arse on this!?
