    yes but the dynamic (extreme) weather and day and night cycle and wide open world (not limited to races) and custom race maps for online play, should make it stand out a bit. :smile:

    what an unbelievably stupid record
    based on the screenshots at the link
    u can see why, terrain looks like something done on a pc demo from 5+ years ago (though with motion blur)

    the world was replicated from taking real world map terrain data of the Western US. Plenty of vids out there (in this thread even) showing lots of terrain and added environmental effects for those that care to see it.

    I seem to remember Bethesda claiming that Daggerfall's gameworld was either the size of England or the size of the isle of Great Britain. Ah, here. That's considerably bigger than 14400 km².

    Haha, okay. My bad. Maybe Bethesda should port Daggerfall to XBLA and put an end to that claim.

    the whole argument about size is irrelevant, (its amazing btw why Guinness book of records even mention this, I know gotta move with the times but sheesh)

    heres humus demo from 2002, 14400km pah tiny, its inifinite!! (ok perlin noise thus repitious)
    http://www.humus.name/index.php?page=3D&&start=56

    better would be stating how many point samples are used
    120km with points spaced out 1km or are they, or are they 10meters, 1meter or 10cm or what
    but even still
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Plane_(simulator) or MS flight simulation
    85% of the worlds surface data comes on 7dvds (so must go into quite good detail), available on iphone btw.

    sports game - 200m * 200m
    GTA - 10x10km
    this - 120x120km
    flight simulation - lots
    elite etc - f'in lots

    its all relative, the detail of the 200x200m of the sports game is better than GTAs, 100km2, which in turn is better than fuels, 14400km2

    in short, size is not what should be measured but what u have crammed into it

    LOL @ zed making the argument "size doesn't matter!".

    Try telling her that. :)

    an apt quote, because the the bullet point is just a load of dick waving

    somewhere in fuels code is the line
    point_scale = 1.0f;

    now if they change that to
    point_scale = 1.1f;
    they can claim
    yes we've broken a world record our terrain is now a massive
    17424km2
    perhaps theyll do this for fuel2.0 :grin:

    holy crap! :lol:

    sorry to the devs but that's one off my list that I was planning on buying.

    the fact that a demo didn't drop and that it appears to have been delayed again to mid June or later does not bode well.
