    Question:

How is DX9.0c going to improve performance on applications that do not use any features of DX9.0c?

There's no way DX9.0c improves anything. It's the use of SM3.0 that may improve performance.

LOL man you give nvidia fanb0ys a bad name. Weren't you harping on the performance benefit of 9.0c in another thread last week?

Anyway, I'm really liking what I'm hearing about Nvidia's latest drivers. Can't wait for the competition to really heat up and see those prices fall. Honestly, I really hope Nvidia can compete this time around since I like their drivers better. I've also been hypnotized by the TWIMTBP logo on every single freaking game I play these days.

I would have to strongly disagree. Firstly I would think that more than 5% of 6800 buyers will be savvy enough to upgrade their drivers even if it comes in a DELL

Secondly 6800's haven't even started shipping in bulk yet, when that happens there are sure to be better drivers out which will be included in the retail package and the .01% of cards out now are in the hands of informed buyers so they should be A-OK.

well don't forget for people with dells the newest drivers they can gte are still in the 52s . Not the 61s we can get.

As a matter of fact the cd my father got comes with the 60s. But the driver is horrible. The 52s wont work with his card properly. So if he was left on his own he'd be pretty pissed. thankfully i was able to get him newer drivers .

The Nv40 should have a lock on Microprocessor Report's "Best Graphics Processor" for 2003. :)

nVidia News Flash from TEAM NVIDIA: The retail release of the nV40 has been an even bigger success than we imagined as the demand for our new card is even higher than anticipated with all available cards selling out worldwide in a record breaking short time!

i believe the 6800 is always on top in 3dmark03 and aquamark, but behind in 3dmark2k1

Same thing 'tween my 5900 & 9700 pro; the 9700 is on top in 3dm2k1se but loses to the 5900 in 3dm2k3.

It's weird, I'm enjoying figuring it out. :)

In all honesty that was my first instinct too, but I ain't so sure that's the case.

I think it's more a matter of different areas of strengths/weaknesses between the cards, that's why I'm enjoying exploring it so much. :)
