oh that'll give about 80% scaling easily... specially in heavy alpha areas. Likely even at 1680x1050. I'll look into it and may do it just for you.

Theres a new expansion? I did run some Neverwinter Nights 2 tests actually. With 16xQAA/16xAF max detail at 1680x1050 ((16xQ Enhanced Transprency SS enhanced)) But I didnt realize there was a 3rd expansion. Neverwinter Nights 2 is extremely SLI friendly.

Here you go buddy. I did Grizzly Hills starting from this spot up to the werewolf village at this height. Oh I should point out that this is a big reason why I think multisampling is so pointless because of how it performs in heavy alpha areas. Wow is hardly a demanding game but even a single GTX 260 struggles at this.

I threw in SLI64xAA in there just for giggles. Forgive my server until it comes out of its stupidity,

Thanks! I don't think the expansion would change much in terms of performance. It scales better than I expected.

Well that certainly is quite nice scaling, IIRC at least over at AMD someone said that if they can get 3 times the performance with 4 chips, it's pretty much as perfect as possible, and while that's not yet 3x the performance, it's still well over 2x
now all I need is someone with access to 2 HD4870X2's etc do same test, which I doubt I can find sadly

Well regardless of the scaling and performance. I dont consider it smooth mostly because of how rapidly the bottleneck hits. You'll be flying around dragonblight doing 150-200 FPS and then your FPS jump down to 55-60 range and the new bottleneck kicks and you get a brief microstutter. It's a big reason I steer clear of 8x MS in this game.

this sorta behavior isnt exclusive to SLI though. It happens on Single GPUs. The problem seems to be the rendering bottlenecks themselves.

I wouldn't say it was £160 overpriced, more like £60. A branded GTX 260 216 is around £200-£220. OCUK tend to get more stock and launch stock before anyone else so do tend to be on the higher side price wise, but then do get opportunities to sell off stockt really cheap other times. i.e. GTX280's for £230 last week.

I think there are very few takers for a GTX295 at the moemnt as its not £100 faster than a 4870X2.

    In flesh and blood...

Two NVIO ASICs -- looks like the SLi frame-buffer link is indeed provided by the NVIO chip, despite the only two DVI outputs would suggest that only one should be needed. :???:

Nice! The users in that thread make a good point though, wouldn't this be unuseable for 32 bit users given the memory addressing limitations? Or are there ways round that now?

I doubt you'll find many 32bit OS enthusiasts among the 1000 that will receive one. ;)
This is a -very- limited edition card.

I wouldn't mind if someone gave me one :) I have no desire to buy any dual card now though.

    Hello guys,

I know I'm late, but what happened to the GTX 295 that I can't find for sale in Canada?
Did it have problems that it's been removed from the market?

Only the 285 is to be found.

    Thanks.

According to rumors, NV has all but ceased production of GT200b chips, and all GTX 2xx series card have been hard to find for months now. Though I did just purchase 2x GTX 275s...

Not only that but in all honesty the radeon 5870 is faster costs the same and is a single chip that uses much less power , has dx 11 , eyeinfinty and in the future 3d gaming.

At this point in time there isn't much of a reason to buy a gtx 295.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&cm_re=geforce_gtx_295-_-14-143-167-_-Product

scratch that the 5870 is about $100 less and offers better performance.

Nvidia are supposed to have new high end parts out in March the gtx 470 and 480. If you want nvidia you will have to wait till then. If not look into the 5870
