Final Fantasy VII Remake

Can't quite tell if it has turned based or phase based combat. I hope they didn't shit all over the remake by making the combat that stupid real time crap.

Regards,
SB

The crappy voice acting makes me want to rip out my ears. Hopefully I can get the jap version...

Captured those two sequences showing Cloud cutscene model. I wonder if it's using UE4 like Kingdom Hearts III. Loving the details especially in Midgar.
Gameplay looks lik ea mix of Crisis Core + original versusxIII bits ( playing with party members ? )
Can't wait to see more.

From Kitase himself

"I can’t say the new game is completely action-based, but it has more of that element and real-time than the previous game."

“However, what makes Final Fantasy and RPG different from other games is that the players have the ability to choose weapons, capabilities and magic to be strategic minded, so while the new game has more real-time element, it will also maintain that strategy building element, balancing these two factors perfectly to enhance the gaming experience."

“The game is still in development, and we have not fully grasped all the abilities of and upgrades made to PlayStation 4. The graphics are superb on PlayStation 4, and more polygon volume is available to make it better.

“The way we harnessed the power of the PlayStation 4 was to maintain the graphic quality of characters like Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith in the movie called Advent Children in our game, and this was the starting point. So, what we’re aiming for with the Final Fantasy VII Remake is to have the same quality of these characters in real-time while playing the game, and this is only achievable with PlayStation 4.”

If it's UE4, the lighting component looks considerably better than the weirdness we see in KH3.

I don't know, I think the graphics looked like a mixed bag at best. I kind of get the feeling that they have resurrected some abandoned PS3 project and polished it a bit, some places more than others. I do not get the feeling of a high budget project out of this or alternatively it looks very early. Cloud needs to eat a bit more I think.

It's UE4. The excessive bloom is a dead giveaway.

Tabata told famitsu that when he was asked if FFVII remake will be made with Luminous engine by overseas media,
Tabata just said " Luminous is currently used for producing FFXV, and it hasn't been used in other titles, therefore I don't know."

(Overseas media reports "FFVII re is not planned".)

(And a lot of sites reported the same thing, but this is not the original meaning of the interview.)

There is still no official statement about the engine used for FF7 Remake.

@Dr Evil

personally i think they reused/modded FF versus 13 PS3 assets for FF7 remake. Look at the city design. it eerily similar with FF versus 13 (before renamed to FF15)

The cutscenes in the trailer look to have some rather high quality motion blur and post processing, and also runs much smoother compared to the gameplay segments. It's probably a vertical slice trailer with pre-rendered cutscenes using game assets mixed with some real-time gameplay. Nomura did it before with XV's reveal trailer at e3 2013.

I told you guys FFVII remake wouldn't run on Luminous... So sad, that engine has potential! But it's probably a pain to use

I mean, if even in house teams don't wanna use it it's probably something seriously bad. This is the equivalent of an EA studio not working with Frostbite.

Were people really thinking VII-R would run on Luminous, considering the rumor is that CyberConnect2 would be handling the development using UE4 which they posted about? http://gematsu.com/2015/03/cyberconnect2-teases-three-new-titles-new-generation

The question is if Luminous will be used again after XV is complete, as that's when the engine will be completed as well. Frostbite initially started out as an engine only for Battlefield.

I would not hold the bad performance of the game [or unfinished visuals] against this game. It is still waaay off, I'm quite surprised they even chose to show us anything.

I really want Luminous to see widespread use, it's really impressive looking from what I've played in the Duscae demo. Stellar animation and lighting as well.
