EQ2 uses PS/VS 1.1 only

not only that but it runs almost as crappy as eq2 does .

Considering its already been out for almost a year now and even people with x800s and 6800s have problems playing it shows that any engines will have probems


I'd have to say the only engine no one has problems running is ultima online

I played lineage to for about 6 months through out beta test and playing it live .

IT doesn't compare to eq2 when your actually playing it and at maxed out systems with more than 10 chars on the screen at once your performance is going to tank . Esp in towns .

ign doesnt mention the settings. besides thats how ALL the pics of eq2 look that have been posted so plz. unless u consider no aa and af min detail.

 

Heh moment Hovz. Those pictures dont even have bump mapping. Its pretty clear you have no experience with the EQ 2 engine and are talking out of your hind quarters.

Hope that helps though I find it rather dubious saying that a game looks bad purely based on screenshots, I really hope you've seen this game in action otherwise your comments are of even less value than they already are. And just for the record, I couldn't care less about your comments, in my earlier post I was just pointing out why your comments would be considered trolling by most people. Manners go a long way, simply posting "x sucks" is generally considered quite rude.

 

All my screenshots are taken at medium high detail with shadows off. Including Lighting and bump mapping up. With speculiar effects. I added gamma correction to a few shots because fraps didnt capture my screenshots with my in game gamma settings. I didnt even try to capture at max details because my system would tank if I tried. In Any event. Even at my settings Lineage 2 is not even within a shouting distance.


*Waits for Hovz to come here and say "Omg that game is so ugly. EQ 2 sucks!"

I think we should give hovz a gameboy. He probably wouldnt notice the difference. Those screenshots dont even look remotely comparable. No good lighting, No bumps, Hell even the textures are low quality in comparison. Hell I wasnt even using Flora (Grass, Leaves,( or Shadows! or max quality textures!

Either way, Whether you like the textures/game quality or not. The EQ 2 engine is light years beyond the lineage 2. The bump mapping. The Lighting quality, The water, all show this. Why dont you just compare Unreal 2 to Doom 3 while you're at it Hovz.

Hehe funny comparison but honestly: You just showed us the difference. I played both games and Linage 2 can't be compared at all.
The ground textures are a joke. It's basically one texture again and again. The texture resolution is low too.
The only good thing about L2 graphics is the character design wich is killed by having everyone look the same. There's 2 faces to choose from!!!
That and seeing everyone running around in same armor makes it look extremely dull.

 

You're right, the Lineage ones look so much better.

While it should be pretty obvious to everyone that Lineage 2 can't compare with EQ2 in regards of 'cool' effects, I still think it looks better simply because the art direction of EQ2 is probably the worst I've seen. I just find it outright ugly and because of that I couldn't really care less how many technical features it pulls off that other games don't heh.
