I would also like to see another singleplayer TES to be honest, but if they already decided to make MMO i can only support them because i love TES and there is no turning back now

But if they decide to make just another WOW clone than i am 100% against

I predict Bioware wiping the floor with them, atleast I hope anyway
I've found the the KOTOR series to be much more enjoyable then Morrowind and Oblivion, way better story/plot.

What this series needs more than "MMO grind fest $15/mo funs!!" is a coop LAN mode. I've always wanted that. The modders have even tried to do it but it's just too much for them because the framework isn't there in the games.

yes some kind of smaller scale multiplayer mode would be perfect!!

Or if they are going to make mmo, i would like that they create some roles like "trader" where you just sell stuff to other people, or even role "peasant" where you do some random stuff

Why does every role have to be combat oriented?

This is all I can think to quote. Such sad news... Yet another boring cookie cutter MMO to throw into the already crowded and stinky MMO market.

Is that a fake screenie? Because there's so many things that look wrong in that picture I don't know where to begin.

Like, just where exactly is the light coming from that hits the stone wall there....from underground? And what's up with the washed-out fur on the ass-end of the horse?

    Terrible! Just terrible.

I thought the image above was from Oblivion with low-med settings. Looking at file name it suggests it is from the MMO!?

Early on I played Oblivion with mods making it look almost like a game one generation ahead of Oblivion and I just have to say the graphic in that pic above is damn ugly and must run perfect on 6600GT hardware in HD. I cant believe it is from the MMO... is this a joke?

Well, there's a few things that MMO's will always lord over single/co-op/small scale multiplayer RPGs.

And that's properly setup raids that actually require teamwork rather than raw numbers (zerg) to overcome.

When I last played Vanguard for example, my guild was still only 1 out of 3 on the entire server that had managed to kill Kotasoth. And there was still a server where no guilds had managed to do it even a year after he was put in.

There is absolutely NOTHING in the world of computer gaming (for me) that comes even remotely close to a well organized raid utilizing teamwork (rather than Zerg rushes) to overcome what the majority on the server think is an impossible fight.

The harder the encounter (and as a result the fewer guilds able to beat it), the greater the satisifaction of a job well done.

Easy raids (Age of Conan for example) on the other hand can be a complete borefest.../yawn. With everyone and their dog being able to do it and requiring virtually no teamwork.

Likewise the challenge of being one of the first to figure out how to beat an "impossibly hard" raid mob, without using spoilers, walkthroughs, hints from other guilds, etc. (cheap ass no skill guilds).

There is just no rush or satisfaction on hand anywhere else in the entire realm of console or computer gaming that can come even close.

The downside? Just like anything that requires teamwork (soccer/football, baseball, racing, basketball, etc.), it requires a large time investment. Something I don't have currently. /sigh. I miss the teamwork from a good raiding guild.

I'd give up all games if a dev could come out with a properly challenging and difficult MMORPG. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever see another hard MMORPG again. /bigger_sigh

    Regards,
    SB

However many it takes for them to learn they can't just half ass things and shove them out the door and hope it works.

I don't see this as them giving up on single play mmo's . Not even bioware is doing that.

So whats the big deal. MMORPGS have their place and lets face it if Bethesda is able to get 1m players on their mmorpg paying $10 a month gives them 10m a month or a 120m a year. Even if they only get half of that after bandwidth and server up keep and new content they still have 60m or so which is enough to fund many single player games each year.

Its a much better situation than hoping the last single player game is good enough to attract gamers for years after till they can shove a new game out the door.

Will the MMO also feature a whole population suffering from Fetal Alcohol Syndrom (i.e. FaceGen)?

L233, I'm sure you have some fun insight on how well Oblivion is already designed with MMO elements. :D Lidve already brought this up essentially, and I've been pondering it myself too.

+endless angry wildlife and respawning "highwaymen", ready for infiniGrind.
    +robotic quest dispenser NPCs.
+randomized and leveled everything universe, again good for inifiniGrind.
    +special can't-possibly-lose difficulty and consequence-free gameplay!
+useless gold makes gold farming pointless!
+be the master of all guilds / factions / undergrounds at the same time! conflicts of interest? no way!
+character stat/leveling quirks that defy logic will add tons of strategy to making those 300 characters!
-"level up by using it" method is something that will have to go though I think. Retarded exploitation waiting to happen

I'm only seeing one negative here....

Oblivion's facegen implementation is clearly the ultimate special person crafting tool that I've ever used.

TBH, Morrowind already had most of the MMO aspects you mention, perhaps all of them except for the face generator, and that was like... 2002, or something?
