Dual DDR Configuration

just noticed whilst looking at something in Daves review of the 865 chipset:

For Optimal Dual DDR400 memory mode 'Fully Loaded' (all banks populated) configurations can use either single or double sided DIMM's, however with 'Lightly Loaded' (single DIMM in each channel) configurations should use double sided DIMM's.

I just wondered what "optimal" means regardnig this. If I had 2 single sided DIMM's (1 in each channel), would I still get Dual Channel mode? If so, what would the drop in speed by from say if I had 2 Double-sided DIMMS's (1 in each channel).

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere so I though I'd ask here.

You would still get dual channel with the situation you described above. I believe what Dave is referring to is simply a fastest/most stable configuration. In order to get dual channel, you just need 1 stick of ram in each of the 2 channels.
