More dumb PR crap, but ok. If the PC version survives, I'll be happy. I very much enjoyed my time with DA:O aside from females of all ages sharing the same body. *cough*. BOOBS. BEWBS. :p I played DA: O with comp hooked up to TV :) My wrist hurts, har har har har har har har, from using the keyboard poorly, but oh well.

-_- la la la la la.

So many little things that NEEDED fixing and they go and change the one thing that worked?

As for polys, meh, I play in bird's eye view TWIMTBP so I don't care. I do hope they fix the horrible graphics when outdoors (grass disappeared wtf? can't they only measure horizontal distance from the camera?). Otherwise, it looked very nice, BG2 level of graphics only real-time 10 years later.

Since they want to revamp the combat for consoles and have two different systems why don't they go ahead to put D&D 3E on the PC version? Geez, this game with turn-based D&D would be cloud 9.

THIS is the problem I have with just about every single computer and console game. Grass and foliage disappearing quite often in a very very short distance from the camera. Compounded in 3rd person and top down games when you zoom out and you end up with a tiny spec of grass and/or distance fog based upon distance from camera ends up fogging up everything around your character. Ugh.

I would imagine WotC probably wants more for the licensing than they want to pay. Added to that if the founders are anything like my RL PnP RPG gaming group (and they sound like they are) they probably absolutely HATE D&D 4E as much as we do. :p

And it's unlikely WotC will still license D&D 3.0 or 3.5 since that does nothing to promote D&D 4E.

    Regards,
    SB

Any news on if the game is still a date simulator disguised as RPG and does it have the basic plotline same as in previous 5 bioware games? (bad happens, collect crew, choose mate, enging battle & choose good or bad ending.)

Absolutely, but I'm sure the clever doctor can point out to WotC that the time of multiple D&D licenses is gone. Better a cheap license than none at all.

This is true, while I'd probably still prefer 4e to the "pile-it-on" system DA uses, it'd be a complete travesty to D&D games.

Maybe if game companies rallied up and demanded 3e WotC would pay attention to us pen-paper RPGers that have been giving 4e the finger. I know, I know, but I can dream, can't I?

AFAIK as long as the RPG game logic is in plain text (for instance java or python, with source) you can use the OGL (D&D 3e) rules and open content in a game. Consequence of the open gaming license.

That's from the IGN preview, which is a little shoddy. The developers on the BioWare say differently.

    Better info here.

Not being locked into specific icons per place on the wheel is not the same as saying you won't use specific icons per place on the wheel ... that statement is indeed gymnastic.

What the fap is this crap? Dialog wheel with icons? Just make it a Mass Effect prequel and be done with it, seriously Bioware. This is getting increasingly uninteresting...

So there will not be any text, just icons for good or bad and all shades in between? I'll wait until I see it to pass judgement, but wow they're really going all out with this simplification stuff...

No, there's icons along with the 1-3 word descriptions. It's not really any better than Mass Effect or Alpha Protocol's (terrible)systems, but it's not as bad as IGN made it sound.

At least I hope it isn't.

Haven't played Alpha Protocol, but I disagree that Mass Effect's system is inherently terrible. The problem with ME is that a lot of times they don't make it clear what it is your character is about to say, which can lead to some frustration when my character takes the piss and I meant to give a complement. If they could improve on that I'd like it better than the classic system used in DA:O.

It does seem like a bit of a shame that bioware is going that route. Yes its more cinematic, but I didn't play the first Dragon Age for a 'cinematic' experience. Of course, I found the idea fine for Mass Effect, but that is a totally different sort of a game, and I did get seriously annoyed when what Shepard said didnt seem to match with the selection i made.

Heaven forbid that people like the new system in DA2 more, because if they do, I can imagine that the last major computer RPG with old fashioned dialog trees is going to be Fallout NV.

Two things that were great in DA:O
    1. Dialog
    2. Combat

What does Bioware do? Take the two things that made DA:O the great game it is and dumb it down for the console tards.

Dragon Age 2 will be to Dragon Age what Deus Ex 2 was to Deus Ex. Mass Effect with swords. I think the question really is whether it's going to be Mass Effect 1 with swords or Mass Effect 2 with swords.

I thought they were going to use different combat systems for PC and consoles.
