I'm having much the same experience, and in addition to the % CPU usage varying, HD videos still are incredibly jerky on my machine.

it should work with current drivers if it's enabled correctly

    i'm seeing 5-15 less cpu work with 1080content with amd64 3400+(2,4ghz) and a x800pro cat5.5

Don't think so - NV3x doesn't have PureVideo support (eg. some sort of MPEG-4 decoding).

Well don't know but if you gpu temp. increases it probably works :) . I can clearly see that it works for me but it really is not much usually between 5-15% less cpu dependent on the movie.

Its working here too, and the movies are as smooth as silk. I have yet to see CPU usage go above 50% with my lowly 3200+.

    no change for me.

    Cat 5.5, R9800pro

I didn't mess with the registry though... not a fan of doing that unless there is some stupid toolbar that got automagically installed.

Yeah the GPU heats up. I played a WMV HD for about 5 minutes, and the GPU temp rise 5c.

GPU heats up.. am at about 40% cpu load (fluxing from 29% to 57%)

Just watched the T2 1080p trailer and everything is smooth and flawless...
    Looks like M$ fixed something..

    Actually, they "unlocked" something. 8)

Anyway, did someone got a clue on the jerky playback problem. I'm reading few complaints in ohter forums, mostly from people having K7 systems

Frame rate of the videos must be less than or equal to 30 frames per second. The E3 XBox videos are 60fps.

Yeah those were the videos I tried at first as well, and boy things weren't going well.

After testing out some of these videos I can say that these work on my 2.1GHz P4 and 9500Pro with between 40-50% CPU usage.
