    Damn you Geo! You just had to make that $595 card at eWiz all that more tempting. And I really don't want to upgrade until February.

    It certainly looks like Nvidia didn't pooch themselves when they did the GX2.

    Probably best to get more facts before making obvious statements like the one in the topic name (yes, I know theres a ? but its such an obvious statement, not a question - see Jon Stewarts take on the humble ? mark)

    78fps -> 122fps = 56% faster + DX10 + another 50% in SLI compared to 2x GX2s.

    No, NV didn't shoot themselves in the foot.

    This oblivion graph sucks(no offense). It shows that 79xx are faster than x19xx? And 60fps+ on 1600x1200 res? Rofl. Its probably some indoor area. Who cares about indoor areas, its the outdoors that really matter. And in any case, yes g80 does very good on oblivion(and gx2 does pretty bad in oblivion) but on some other games(or in the graph that you presented), where sli scales better and where they arent so shader intensive, sli does hold pretty good vs g80.

    Not that it matters though. G80 performs a lot better than pretty much everyone expected. When this thread started, they were almost no benchmarks about g80. Now that we know how good g80 performs, we can see that nvidia didnt shoot themselves in the foot. But 3 weeks ago, things werent so clear. And back then, i wouldnt be suprised if g80 was actually slower than gx2 on certain dx9 games.

    That would have been disappointing since the X1950XTX was a match for the GX2 in many cases. What people didn't expect was for it to be as fast as the fastest dual-GPU configurations of last generation. That's what's most impressive. At this point software is lagging badly behind the hardware - which is probably a good thing if you're on the R600 sales team.

    I didnt expect gx2 to be faster than g80 on the games that x1950xtx was faster than gx2. But on games like FEAR, where sli scales pretty good(and the game fits the g70 architecture), gx2 was much faster than x1950xtx. In games like that, i didnt expect g80 to be much faster, if any faster, than gx2.
