Damageplan guitarist Dimebag Killed

This news hurts. Such a great guitar player. His brother, the drummer, is among those shot also.

This is from a news channel and has a witness describing what happened to Darrell. The shooter just walked right up to him and shot him in the head while he was playing.

Dimebag is a heavy-metal guitar icon. A signature guitar line, amp line, distortion box, and also a guitar humbucker pick-up called the Dimebucker.

Such a bummer when I found out this morning... Used to be quite the Pantera fan back in the day. I still have one of his picks stashed somewhere from a rock festival back in -94 or -95.

R.I.P. Dimebag. :(

I pretty much despise metal of all types, but even I had to give the guy credit for being an excellent guitarist after listening to some Pantera.

Sounds like a really bad scene that went down, my condolences. :(

Phil Quoted: " 'Darrell my brother. The best of the best.' — Philip H Anselmo"

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/4086101.stm
A UK magazine printed an interview two weeks before former Pantera guitarist Darrell Abbott was shot and killed, saying he should be "severely beaten"

Not read the mag, so no idea as to how out-of-context the quote has been taken but it's widely known that Anselmo didn't think much of Darrell after Pantera split.
