chickens fell from the sky today. when i was trying to print to one networked printer it printed from the other one. tried to go the the first ones web config utility and it went to the other one. checked ip settings. no problems. for some reason the first ones ip was shooting to the second one (although i could power-cycle the first one and get to it temporarily, but that would put the second one out pof commision it seemed). it made no sense. i likened it to chickens falling from the sky. know what it was? i do but i think it would be fun to see if you guys can figure it out :D

Some how they both ended up with the same IP address from the router.

Were you changing routers or anything like that?

nope, because they are print servers we have to give them manual IP addresses. Also, our internal network is connected via switches and one of our Windows servers doubbles as the DHCP server.

printer a was using *.188
printer b was using *.97

when i went to http://***.188 I ended up at the web config for the printer with the IP of ***.97

come on! noone wants to play the guessing game? believe me the answer is entertaining.
