CHALLENGE: Best PC from Circuit City.

Meh, this HP don't look too bad if he buys a viddy card for it and this 17" crt monitor looks to be pretty decent.

He was talking about an $1,100 range, so I figure for $580 & $209 for PC/monitor should leave him with about $300 to spend on a decent viddy card. :)

Looks pretty good. Just make sure it has an agp port. Oh and you can get the 9800 Pro for as little as $206 off of newegg.com

Hmm for 1600$ he'd get a pretty decent system:
CRT: Samsung SyncMaster 957P
RAM: 1024MB PC3200 DDR CL2.5
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS
CPU: Pentium 4 3.00GHz, 1024kB Cache (Prescott)
MB: MSI Neo2-FIS2R
Gfx: Radeon 9800 Pro, 256bit, 128MB
DVD ROM: Teac DV-516E
DVD-RW: LG GSA-4082B (probably Dual Layer flashable)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar WD2000JD 200GB Special Edition
Case: Casetek CK-1018 Midi Tower ATX
PSU
Cooling

Yeah, but it HAS to all be from Circuit City so it's the best I can do.

The PC does have an AGP port, and his budget is $1,100 or I would agree with Vadi's system. :)

I printed it all out and sent it with me friend along with a bit of my busted tractor that him and his cousin are going to try banging back into shape and welding for me...it's a fair exchange. ;)

Can you build the system for him and charge $50 to $100 for laber?
You could do much better then Circit City in price and speed.
I know, but I don't know the guy well enough to make that kind of commitment and he's bumming his Mom's Circuit City CC card to get all the stuff is the only way he can get it.

Gotta make do with $1,100 at Circuit City, them is the parameters. :)

I agree with Sniping Waste.
eMachine make good systems too from my experience.
Upgrade his viddy card with the money left over.
