Meh, this HP don't look too bad if he buys a viddy card for it and this 17" crt monitor looks to be pretty decent.
He was talking about an $1,100 range, so I figure for $580 & $209 for PC/monitor should leave him with about $300 to spend on a decent viddy card.

Add in a 128MB 9800 pro for $249 and ya get a decent little system you can go and buy at your local CC store for under $1,100. 8)

The PC does have an AGP port, and his budget is $1,100 or I would agree with Vadi's system.
I printed it all out and sent it with me friend along with a bit of my busted tractor that him and his cousin are going to try banging back into shape and welding for me...it's a fair exchange.

It comes with monitor and speekers for $619. It looks like a Nforce2 chipset mobo in it with AGP slot. It has a intergraded GF4 mx that shares system mem so that tells me its a Nforce 2 IGP MOBO.
