The geometry performance seems low even for single core? Must be clocked low? The quad core in the 543MP4 does over 100 million polys/sec.

Newer cores can always scale up the amount of geometry handled; absolute performance isn't the issue here.

The point demonstrated is that their TBDR isn't at any inherent disadvantage in scenes with high geometry to a comparable IMR, which in this case would be a Tegra 2 or Adreno or Mali of that time.
 
It was OMAP4430 for the Cubes (poly throughput) demo.
