Did all that last time around to get the 2.8 reinstalled. Tried all the uninstall/clean/reinstall and that didn't work. Looks like the failed install screws the global cache and I have to go through it all again. My .Net was scrubbed out and reinstalled from scratch only a month ago, so it's got to be the faulty install.

I decided to get around to that Win7 upgrade instead as I didn't fancy spending hours frigging around with uninstalling and cleaning out several versions of .Net just to go back four versions of CCC only to find it crashes or won't start up properly.

What do you mean by "screws the global cache"? Do you really mean it somehow corrupts the GAC or just the ngened assemblies? How do you notice when it's corrupted?

Why is the SDK still needed for OpenCL support? Shouldn't ATI be providing the dll as part of the driver install by now? I'm pretty sure Nvidia have been doing this for a while now.

Catalyst 9.12 fixed the "flashing graphics" -problem which I had in Witcher with my 5850, so I'm a happy gamer again.

I have a question regarding Cat 9.12 and Avivio. I noticed that the video gamma slider is now gone and enabling it in registry doesn't help as the video gamma checkbox unticks itself when applying changes. Is this normal for Cat 9.12 (it worked/was present last time in Cat 9.9)?

Hmm seems it is normal for 48xx series to not have the Video Gamma sldier in these drivers. Strange as it was alright in Cat 9.9. Maybe a bug in these drivers though I have no use for it I was just curious.

    Dave et al,

Hi - I notice that on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit - after installing the Cat 9.12 drivers running a 5850 card - on login boot I always get a MOM error - which online research says relates to Cataylst drivers expecting a version of .Net (is it 1?) that Windows 7 doesn't support?

The specific error is "Could not load file or assembly 'MOM.Implementation Version 2.0.3615.386882, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=90ba9c70f846762c' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest"

Does this ring true to you? The error does definitely seem Cataylst related - and I have all Windows patches and updates applied. Does the Catalyst Control Centre Driver insist that an antiquated .Net is present for Windows 7? More importantly - any idea how to elimiate this error?

    Thanks,

    Matthew

Most likely the assembly file is corrupted. Uninstall, download a fresh copy and reinstall.

I'd also look at your .NET installations possibly causing it as well.

Interesting - download the full install again - a re-install had errors and same error occured.

Then - per Noob's advice - used the full installer to do an uninstall followed by an install - worked perfectly!

So things are great - now if I could just stop my Sound blaster X-fi card from playing the sound in music videos about 5% - 10% too slow slowly in Media player (when CPU is under 5% load) I'd be delighted!

(Update - another driver re-install plus codec packs - and now finally auto-update detects the card and worked correctly to bring it up to speed - so now video and sound works well - finally!)

    Thanks all!
