So what's the verdict on this driver? This is coming from someone who has 11.1 still installed.

Keep the 11.1 if you want to be able to force AA in some games (NFS:HP, Dead Space 2 for example) caue AMD decided that you are no longer allowed to do it now :-s.. If not then 11.4 seem to be fairly nice (notice a slight increasein perf here and there but nothing amazing)

What about 2D performance? (video, etc.) In fact, I'm hope they solved the whole scaling issue control at lower resolutions (since I want some games stretched at lower resolutions like Bionic Commando Rearmed, while others I want to maintain aspect ratio).

I hope this text problem with Firefox 4 is only on certain cards. I have a Mobility Radeon 4200.

Edit: I just installed it and thankfully Firefox isn't giving me any hickups. That said, I'm still trying to resolve the stretching/scaling problem in certain programs as the catalyst control panel won't let me preserve aspect ratio.

To do this right, AMD ought to make the driver auto-update this stuff automatically. To make people manage yet another download and install at this mature level of the internet is somewhat irritating. A lot of other software autoupdates itself, and the cap file is tiny. It would be a very fast procedure.

Interestingly enough, just since 11.4 I've noticed a "software update" tab in CCC under the "information" section. I don't know how long it's been there as I was using the 11.4 previews for a few months, but it seems that AMD is heading in the direction of auto-updates.

With ATT, though with the games I'm playing right now I haven't had the need to use a driver control panel. For older games, ATT's profiles are the way to go, rather than manually tweaking before each game.

Has anybody firgured out how to control stretching/scaling for lower resolutions? The "change resolution to a lower one and select maintain aspect ratio" workaround doesn't seem to follow through, as I still run a few games that automatically play stretched, and its a tad annoying.

That said, I wish there were someway to make the stretching/scaling a "per program" thing.

Yes, that would be a godsend. I wouldn't really need autoupdate on the whole driver (because you don't really need to update 100+ MBs of driver every month, and sometimes you don't want to either, if there's nasty bugs etc), but stuff like the compatibility profiles and such, that'd be a good idea to manage updates automatically by the driver.

11.4 still have the Photoshop Open GL acceleration issues.

I hope ATI will fix it soon.
