8800gtx on 100.65 and creative x-fi on those beta drivers from last year. Will try and install it again tonight and see what it does, kinda gave up quickly when I read it doesn't work in the readme.

That mess called Generals? Generals was THE game of the century in my opinion. Crisp clear, great music, great sounds, great gameplay and action.

In C&C 3, graphics are really annoying - kinda blurry and I just don't know who is who when a fight starts, sounds suck big time also. I'm really dissapointed.

Except that it had nothing to do with 'Command and Conquer', it was practically a real-time iraqi war simulator, with 0% humor outside of a few 'ha......ha' unit comments.

Anyone remember the good old days? Time travel? Hitler and Einstein? Attack dogs trying to take on harvesters? Tanyas' that could shoot across the entire map? Ahh hilarious! You're entitled to your own opinion, I have nothing against that, but Generals was not C&C, it was...crap.

While Generals was not a typical C&C game, I still found it to be very fun. Nothing beats playing Red Alert 1 by dialing up to someone's modem.

Can anyone else confirm that it works for them in Vista64?

And that is YOUR opinion. I'm not talking about the theme, it is the general design and graphics that totally put me off, just like Tiberian Sun did to a certain extent. Everything is just so blurry, colors are terrible. And that is MY opinion.

Hahaha, fair enough... But don't get me wrong, after having played a few hours of C&C3 a little earlier, I hate it just as much. Sure, it's got a lot of the funny little niche elements that made C&C and RA fun, but eveything about it just feels wrong. Spamming units over and over until you get a result...and they've bastardised the Obelisk! The one thing I love most. Now it's just some beam-spraying weak sounding piece of crap.

I think i'm a little spoilt by Supreme Commander.

I'm going to go play some supreme commander.

your joking right, because generals was the worst pile of crap ive ever seen, i own every CnC game disk, including Sole Survior and every expansion pack, and i mean the original CD's not that First Decade crap that all the newbs have. I can say that CnC 1 was the best game in the line, with Ra1 being 2nd best, TS and RA2 felt to cartoonish and Generals was total crap, the story sucked, the movies sucked, the game play sucked, and i had no damned walls, Generals might as well have been called Dont buy me

The oblisk was weak originally they over powered it for TS, the first CnC it could kill infantry with one hit but a tank in like 3, i dont like the super powered oblisk

Renegades' Obelisk, now that was something to be scared of. I used to love it how if you just popped your head up over a hill, you essentially 'pissed it off', resulting in it making a constant and repeating charging noise. Was kinda scary first time that happened.

I'm with you for sure. I remember playing the C&C demo over and over back in '95 lol. "That was left handed!" Generals was a total bummer for me. I didn't like the new GUI, view, gameplay, storyline. The game is nothing compared to Total Annihilation, really, either. IMO.

Tiberian Sun was so non-innovative too, but at least it was still C&C-like. I was annoyed to have blown $70 on the Collectors' Ed after seeing/reading all the "revolutionary" hype. And the delays....

lol same reason i didnt like RA2, just felt like a cartoon to me and didnt bring anything to CnC, except what looked like graphics drawn by a 6yr old. I hope CnC 3 is decent, i preordered it back in December so lets just hope

Uh, C&C has always been cartoon like.

The graphics in C&C3 are much better than Generals. It gets blurry if you enable alot of AA, also if you turn the pixel shading to max as it enables HDR (or more likely bloom). Some people like that, others don't.

Just curious since I always hear people claim this, what is it you were exactly hoping for? Was it just too much hype? I went into the game with no expectations at all not having been a gamer at the time and someone recommended it to me. I thought it was great and still do, one of my all time favorites.

TS is basically a clone of the original, but with some better graphics and some small gameplay tweaks. It was a very demanding game at the time too, cuz of its semi-nifty voxel graphics. I was also disappointed by the queuing of 5 units max. And kinda bored with the gameplay at the time. After all, C&C 1 and RA are identical for the most part too. Some of the SP missions are a PITA.

The game has awful networking code, btw. Its IPX only, I believe, unless you use "westwood chat" (yuck). And, that IPX support is horrible. My friends and I tried it on a LAN back in '06 and it inexplicably slowed to a crawl on machines 10x faster than it was developed for. Disgustingly ridiculous. And, that was after I had to change IPX settings just to get the game to see the other machines.

And I was definitely hyped all to hell, as if it was the second coming of the RTS. It was the grand sequel to the forefather (excl the Dunes) of then-emerging RTS gaming. So after me and friends hyped each other to oblivion, with the help of the odd rumor or mag preview, we were all rather disgusted when we blew $70 on a Collectors Ed (kinda new concept back then) of a game basically the same as Red Alert & Tiberian Dawn and that ran horribly on a Pentium II while not really looking all that state-of-the-art.

I love the vids though. Cool to see Michael Biehn in a game!

I've actually been playing it on and off lately. A mission a month lol. It's not a bad game at all, but it's just not a lot different from its other family members.

Not bad at all. I can't beat the computer on anything above medium but it's still good fun. I'm enjoying it more than I did the Supreme Commander demo.

Superb graphics IMO. I have everything at max 1280x1024, one of the best looking games out there if you ask me!

Gameplay is a little simplistic compared to Generals (which I thought was a great game) but I can still see me having a lot of fun with this. Havn't got past easy yet but I was like that with generals, it takes me a few goes to learn the dynamics  I think im gonna have to get this one though

I get some slow down when playing brutal, as the amount of units towards the end can get rather insane. I like how the unit and building queues work and I enjoy that you can climb a improvement tree but its not so extensive (something that generally turns me off on an RTS).

For those who want to see what is buildable as the NOD, take a nice mammoth force and destroy everything but the construction yard and something like a power plant. Capture the CY with a engineer and you can see what NOD has, some neat units, etc. Lets just say the Nuke is insanely awesome to use.

Yeah the computer cheats like crazy on anything above medium. Swarms of units in a matter of minutes.

You can actually play as Nod. Click on the side select drop down menu, highlight the greyed out Nod and press N on the keyboard while pressing the mouse button. It may take a couple tries but it works. The only thing missing is the Nod EVA. Very cool side.
