I'm a little mystified by the lack of Halo, Halo 2, and Gears of War. All of those games have already been ported to Windows so there is no added cost in putting them on the service. If the service had launched with those 3 games available from the start it would have garnered a lot more interest.

Halo isn't a G4WL game; though I'd buy another copy if it had Halo 3's models/textures.

I find it funny that they don't have Halo 2 for Games on Demand on the XBL Marketplace yet they have the first game, and even funnier that they don't even acknowledge Halo 2 on the Halo Waypoint app. :p

Gosh, Halo 3, ODST, Reach on PC would be awesome.

Halo 2 is, though, and it's not on there either.

Even considering that it is a really dated looking game, if someone would bother to patch it for compatibility with modern versions of the G4WL client software and Windows 7 it would make a decent budget release as well as some actual unique content.

Sadly though G4WL doesn't seem to have any ambition to be anything but a very poor 'me too' effort. I mean, just look at Steam and D2D right now, full of fresh and tantalising Christmas offers, while on the Microsoft side of things it looks like the store owner has been lying dead behind the counter for a month and noone has actually noticed.

G4WL patch would be excellent but Halo works very nicely on Win7 already. Playing it right now (well, in a matter of typing) along with Halo 2. In some ways it still better looking than Halo 2. The terrains are worse but some surfaces, effects and models are noticeably better. Halo 2's caracter faces look hideous. The game is also better even if the sequel's story is more interesting.

For a first effort it's not too bad. They're matching the prices of sames games on Steam and have a reasonable number of first launch games. They only have three exclusives (and Arcade games at that) but I never underestimate Microsoft, even as they try to bump the XBOX 360 over PC.

I replayed Halo on PC just a few weeks ago, always been fond of that game - heck, rushed out and got an XBox for it on launch day :)
But like for many people in this topic, Halo 2 PC just won't run right for me. I mean not with a recent G4WL installed and/or online play working.

Sure their deep pockets make them a force to be reckoned with, whatever it is they undertake. But c'mon. The store as it is just mainly makes me feel sorry for whatever Microsoft minion has been banished to maintenance duty.

Now if ms had given me the job of ceo in charge of pc gaming, I would of ensured that gfwl was full of Gaming Goodness.
And the people would rejoice and chant "All hail Davros for GFWL is indeed The Dogs Bollocks"

It's a shame. I had no problems whatsoever getting either to run. There's around 60 people playing H2 mp though so I don't think I'll ever get all the achievements.

Maybe if I can convince Al to be a punching bag for a while.

Indeed. Like VE3D once put it "Their GFWL team must live on the moon and be the red-headiest step child ever."

Their store needs to have all G4WL games on it ASAP. Then they can coax Capcom and others into releasing their XBLA games like MM9 and SSF2THDR, maybe even re-releasing BCR on it. GeometryWars with achievements, etc. I wouldn't buy major games through it (I like cases and manuals for my collection) but for these small games I don't mind.

MS do need to be on top of PC releases. CoD6 having steam achievements instead of G4WL is a major coup for Steam.
