What a freaking funny movie even if i dont go for awkward timing, slapstick/offensive type movies generally (i hate "something about mary" for example). In many ways Sacha Baron Carter (who plays Borat but is better known as ALi G) uses this movie as vehicle to satirize the ridiculous aspects of american culture. From the homophobic and verbally abusive New Yorker to the racist upperclass that still permeates the South, to the still lingering anti-Jew sentiment that exists even in the most liberal church settings Borat is a faked but very clever expose of what Americans really think about foreigners and most importantly themselves.
And something about the recurring "gypsy" punchline throughout the movie just really tickles me...no offense to the B3Ders who are gypsies.
