My GPU2 3870 has been added to the collective.
I don't think I'll be doing too much work till it gets warmer though since winter electricity round here is quite pricey.
Also waiting on both my 4870 & the 48x0 supporting GPU client to arrive.

PCs that run one or more of the high performance Folding clients double as space-heaters :D

I know, I run both SMP and GPU folding on my 4GHz E8400 + o/c'd 8800 GT rig.

I think I'm going to stop folding when I hit 1 million points. That should happen in two weeks. I'm again about to move to a new place and this time I have to pay the electric bills by myself and that's going to be a quite an issue. I had a luxury of living in an apartment where electric was part of the rent but unfortunately that's not going to be the case in the near future.

I know the feeling, I was going to stop at the one million mark as well, but the GPU clent came out and I got carried away! But I will definatley stop folding by the end of August. Too little return for too much cost. Mind you if they started paying per fold I might be convinced to continue!

I try to only fold when it's cold outside and the heater is on anyway. I figure that since no energy is ever lost, just converted to another form, and in this case that form is heat, this would be the most efficient way of using the energy. Can someone confirm to my severely physics limited brain, whether this strategy is valid?

I've stopped folding on my PC for the time-being. Too many unexplainable EUE's in SMP lately (with no other stability issues) and GPU-folding is causing slow screen draws during scrolling in FF, as well as horrible response time when entering/exiting full screen video mode. Most of these problems relate to FF, but there is a noticeable lag in any screen refresh as well.

If Pande Group can rectify these issues I will revisit the matter.

Aww shucks it's download and update client day today.

Better grab those 6.20s before your Folding boxes grind to a halt..

    Anybody esle?

    edit:

I get the same response with the regular flavour of the client, even in none smp mode. The GPU clients running fine though.

Maybe you can try this new version, this is a MPICH client, not Deino, but ...

    http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=4764

"Peter has been working on fixes for the 6.22 client issues. Here's a client binary (no installer) that fixes the issue where the client terminates on EUE. This one is called "6.22 SMP Beta2r2". It's been alpha tested and looks ok so far, but more beta testing is needed."

That fixed it. Though I am running with the -smp -deino flags and it seems to running fine.

Isn't my HD3850 a little bit too slow? Or is it the current proteine so large?

    CPU: A64 3600+ X2 (2,0 GHz, S939).

Finally I hit 1 million points

It's been quite hard last few weeks and I think it took at least couple weeks for me to get from 990k to 1000k :) First my main computer had a PSU-failure so I had to ditch it. Then my work computer's SMP-client started giving me early units. I tried to restart it but of course the version had expired. And to make things even better, the new client wouldn't start but just gave me "This is a sign of more serious problems, shutting down." -error. Finally (thanks to Rootax!) I was able to get the client up and running but still early units at around 60% were happening almost every time.

Well, I just get to work and noticed that my client had actually succesfully uploaded the result which finally pushed me over the 1 million points. So, like I said here earlier, I'm now gonna stop folding. Or at least put it on a pause for a while. I'm gonna aim for a smaller electric bills and hopefully more lasting computer parts :)

    Gratz Miksu, awesome job!

I'm hoping to get there around the middle of september myself. Minor accomplishment for the week: just slipped past Geo. :D

Loving the GTX280 folding monster. It seems to play WoW with hardly a dip in PPD.

Well, a rather smaller milestone: I just got my 100th WU :)
    Sitting at 18885 points.

Not too bad for a part-time single GPU in little over a month I think.

Nvidia GPUs overtake the PS3 in F@H.

1.5 PetaFLOPS beats 1.2 on PS3s and 1 on IBM's Roadrunner, I'm guessing that makes GPU2 on CUDA the fastest supercomputer in the world :)

Hit the million mark today, 3rd team member to do so. And moving into nr 2 slot. But it looks like the bonobo is uncatchable :)

Youch! After a couple of rather pricy power bills, I'm hanging up my Folding socks for the time being.
At 42,000 odd points, I've done a lot more than I planned to be doing, I'll probably at least bump it up to 50,000 some time though.
