I just wanted to report a noteworthy "achievement" for those who are curious about ps3 power consumption. I actually can see its impact on my electric bill. It's nearly 60% more than the same month last year.

Now, now, now...lemme qualify this! It's only possible because my electric usage has been quite paltry to begin with. There's really nothing else in my home that is really a power guzzler and is operated for long hours, besides my small refrigerator (and perhaps my 300 W torch lamp, which is subconsciously begging me to be retired). So the next one up is naturally my ps3 while running F@H. :D I wasn't even doing a particularly strenuous schedule. Mostly, it was about 10-12 hrs throughout evening and wee-hours on weekdays and slightly more on weekends.

Only 99,669 points to go and I hit the magic million, I reckon that's about 8 more weeks before I retire and save some money on my 'leccy bill. :)

I'm between moving from one place to an another so that's the reason I've been folding quite little recently. And it may be that I have to stop folding completely because I'm having second thoughts on running my computer for 24/7.

My quads completed 147 units, my PS3 has completed nearly 1500 units and I'm only 15k off retirement. w00t!

You do realize that you're contributing a 1/5th of B3D's total 24h points? If you leave tomorrow, then this team is doomed for sure. Is it in you to do such a horrid thing?

    We'll miss you

Just wait until the NV client releases. The team is sure to get a huge boost!

Then again, so will all the other teams!

    Wow that's cool. I'm running a NV GPU client (8800GTX), and SMP client (C2Q @2.4), a PS3, and an Athlon 1900XP, and sometimes a 3Ghz P4... when it works.

    Mwahahaha.

You do have a few months to save up at least. What are you running, the smp client? A gpu client running at the same time seems to work pretty good. You lose a bit off the smp production, but not too much I find.

Yeah, I'm running the smp client. In three different computers actually. Two of them has a Q6600 and one is equiped with a Phenom 9750.

Until now I have avoided the gpu-client, mainly because my main computer has a X1950Pro. Though I should soon replace it with a HD4870. Hopefully by then we have a new gpu client which supports the HD4800-series correctly. And if that happens, I think it's then your turn to upgrade your hardware :)
