Im running F@H for testing our newly built systems for *24hrs so I may be penalised at times for not completing units. I was surprised at this myself too but I think it will balance itself out.

EDIT: *Actually 12hrs testing before I format the drives and lose F@H on those PC's...

Ones around project 268 are bad value.

Takes me longer to do one of those than a tinker 250 point unit and those gromacs only give 150-200

    50k!

I'd like to thank the 933 million hamsters in my wife's machine, the 2,400 million hamsters in the house server, and the 1,600 million hamsters in my laptop (even if AMD would like people to think there are actually more than 3,000 million hamsters in that one --how ridiculous is that? No way you could get *that many* hamsters in there).

    You could try using nano-hamsters.

Hmmmm....getting a bit too close for comfort in here...I may need to call in some of those hamsters that have been on vacation for a few months...

(Yes, these American hamsters take "vacation", not "holiday". ;))

    Hi all,

I'm posting to inform you that i'm retiring from folding and i think that it would be nice to tell why.

In first place, I don't want to keep the machine 24/7 anymore.
Second: Sometimes i think that the client is mixing up my work. (sometimes it has more cpu time than my compiling job. I can't believe that a compiling is using only 20% of cpu.) :(
Third: I'm getting too many WU's with low points. This is really annoying me! :x

I'm just waiting to reach the 18k mark.

I wish you all better luck with the WU's and keep folding everyone!

    Best regards,

    Raphael

That's not unusual. Compiling is often I/O limited. In Unix land, it's common to use "make -j N" where N is the number of parallel compiles/jobs to kick off, in order to get better utilisation of the CPU.

BTW, you don't have to run the system 24/7 to do folding. I don't.

How can i make the folding@home program minimize to an icon near the clock? I'm using the console version and it's a pain in the ass to have it minimized as a normal app.

    Thanks.

I think instead of using console version, use GUI version, there is no difference in performance.

Agreed. You only need the (windows) console version if you want to run >1 clients at the same time.
